An open house may not help sell your house. An open house in not away to sell your house. An open house is a prospecting tool for the agent, not a way to sell your home. In fact, many experienced agents won't even host their own open houses. They get a newer agent to host it. I did this many times as a new agent myself.Think about it, if homes where commonly sold at open houses, would the listing agent risk giving up half of their commission to the agent hosting the open house?
