One of the nicest neighborhoods on the north shore of Staten Island is Westerleigh. It sits high and in some parts you can see views of Newark, NJ. There are many historic homes in the area and many are Victorian style homes featuring old world charm wrap around porches, oak floors, chestnut trim and libraries. The streets are filled with beautiful trees like acacia, sweet gum and Royal Oak. Westerleigh residents have a great tradition, they every last Sunday of June a holiday called Patriotic Sunday.
