Every now and then I get an opportunity to photograph truly unique and special properties. I have to say this is one of the most amazing, picturesque tracts of land I have seen anywhere near metro Atlanta. It reminds me a lot of the topography where I'm from outside of Knoxville, TN. I have to admit, I have had it pretty easy lately. All the homes I've photographed in the last couple months have all been either occupied or staged. Having furniture and decor to work with makes a photographer's job a little easier because there are several focal points to compose around. When photographing vacant properties the I try to resist going into 'documentation mode' and look for architectural lines and features that make for an interesting image. I wrote a post over in the PFRE group on Flickr a couple of weeks ago that went something like this: "I've noticed in a few threads here people make mention of a photographer or photography company not wanting to reveal to another photog or even upandcomer in their own company how they approach a shoot in fear of giving away 'trade secrets'. Personally, I don't really understand this mentality as this kind of work requires much more than just the knowledge of how one arrives at a particular result.
