You’re on a mission to find your dream home. It’s the one you have thought about for years. The timing feels right. You’ve saved for your down payment. "U.F.O. spotted in Rancho Palos Verdes shooting a prominent local realtor, Ed Kaminsky, while introducing his new listing.
Kaminsky is reported to have suffered no harm from the curious flying object which hovered within inches of his face then flew off to the right of the house located at 30259 Palos Verdes Drive East. The object continued to hover in some areas of the backyard, then circled around the home, up the hillside and down into the tennis court area of the home. ed kaminsky: Manhattan Beach--2012 is in the Bag!! - 01/04/12 08:45 AM

Here's one big change coming in 2012 for many South Bay residents . . .

Did you know that in July 2008, our neighbors in Manhattan Beach passed an ordinance banning the distribution of plastic bags at the point-of-sale for all retail establishments in the City of  Manhattan Beach?  The City's plastic bag ordinance will begin implementation on January 14, 2012 with plans to have the ban in full effect, city wide, by July 2012.
We know that citizens in Manhattan Beach and surrounding cities have already made the personal decision to adopt the use … (0 comments)

One of the biggest draws to the South Bay for many families with young children is not only the clean beaches where you learn how to surf before walking, the tight-knit community and casual lifestyle offered throughout the area, but the top-notch public school system  offered in Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach. ed kaminsky: 90% of online buyers could be receiving the wrong information for Manhattan Beach, CA! - 09/22/11 07:38 AM

What can go wrong when searching online for a new home in Manhattan Beach, CA?
What real estate website do you have ear-marked? Zillow? Trulia? Homes.com? Realtor.com? Do you ever find prices to be waaayyy off? See a house you love listed for sale then call on it only to find it sold 4 days ago? How does this happen? Where’s the glitch in the system? How come the information can be so inaccurate on such reliable, name brand sites?
When using an internet service outside of a direct MLS link such as RedDoor, Zillow and the like, you … (2 comments)

ed kaminsky: Should I buy a condo or a townhome? - 09/14/11 09:01 AM
Condos vs. Townhomes:  What’s the difference?
What really is a condominium (“condo”, for short)? Did you know that when you see the word “townhome” or “townhouse”, you are most likely buying a condo? Let’s take a minute to examine the Real Estate market as it related to condominiums located in Southern California including but not limited to Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, the South Bay Cities, and the Westside of Los Angeles.
Legally, a condominium is the form of housing tenure and other real property where a specified part of a piece of real estate is individually owned while use … (0 comments)

ed kaminsky: Staycation's All I've Ever Wanted . . . - 08/17/11 10:07 AM
As summer winds down, the South Bay still has much to look forward to. Our weather typically doesn’t get warmer until after October and the Beaches and parks remain fantastic “staycation” spots for local residents. A big favorite for many is the end of summer party known as Fiesta Hermosa, a 39 year old tradition of celebrating both the traditional “beginning” and “end” of summer. Fiesta Hermosa is a 3 day festival with something for everyone. It is sponsored by the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce and runs every Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend (Saturday, Sunday & Monday). It is … (3 comments)

ed kaminsky: It's Like A Summer Vacation That Never Ends! - 08/15/11 08:25 AM
Hermosa Beach, a city in Los Angeles County, California, has a population of approximately 19,500 and is located in the South Bay region of the greater Los Angeles area. It is one of three Beach Cities: Hermosa Beach is bordered by the other two, Manhattan Beach to the North and Redondo Beach to the South and East. Of the three Beach Cities, only Hermosa Beach owns its own beach. The other two cities' beaches are owned by the county of Los Angeles. The wide flat beach makes Hermosa Beach one of the most popular places to play beach volleyball, from professional … (1 comments)

ed kaminsky: Manhattan Beach's Hill Section - 08/12/11 01:33 PM
Manhattan Beach Hill Section – If you are a millionaire (or lucky enough to be a billionaire), you want to live in Manhattan Beach, and if having your neighbors a mere six feet away from you in the Sand Section is not your idea of comfortable living, then the Hill Section is most likely your destination.  The Hill Section obtained is name from the simple fact that it is on a hill; many might say one of the most aesthetically astonishing and residentially desirable hills in the World. That is, of course, if you based your opinion on some of the … (1 comments)

ed kaminsky: The Pedigree of a New Home - 08/10/11 01:35 PM
All builders are the same.
Wait a minute . . . that would be like saying children are all the same. They have the same parents, same upbringing, same household yet two kids from the same family and parents can often be completely opposite in personality and interests.  New homes throughout the South Bay also can be as diverse, even though they have similar beginnings. In our unique South Bay Real Estate market, values can vary dramatically, lot to lot, street to street, and builder to builder. It’s important to know where your new home came from!

ed kaminsky: Back to School Manhattan Beach! - 08/09/11 09:36 AM
Hard to believe school is right around the corner. Summer camps are winding down and vacations are coming to a close. Kids will be back to school in their shiny new duds on Wednesday, August 31st. Click here for the full 2011-2012 Manhattan Beach school calendar. As we look ahead, I want to congratulate hardworking parents and teachers alike who have mentored and guided the children of Manhattan Beach into ranking as the #1 school district for household incomes over $800k and #6 in the nation overall. That's impressive team work. I'm sharing the article with you below.

ed kaminsky: Spotlight on Manhattan Beach's Tree Section - 05/18/11 09:29 AM
The Tree Section
The Tree Section of Manhattan Beach is considered one of the most desirable places to live. It is bordered by Sepulveda Boulevard to the East, Manhattan Beach Boulevard to the South, Rosecrans Avenue to the North, and the Sand Section to the West. Its proximity to the ocean, LAX and an easy commute to the city, make it as appealing geographically as it is aesthetically.
The area adopted its name, the Tree Section, not from the many trees that populate the neighborhood, but rather from the street names: Palm , Oak, Elm , Pine, etc.  The area is … (0 comments)

ed kaminsky: Housing Market Turning a Cold Shoulder on Homeowners? - 05/13/11 07:49 AM
Los Angeles Times states Housing Chill?

That's the word on the streets according to today's LA Times. The front page of the business section running Friday, May 13th would have any local homeowner nervous about their equity. I just got back from a recent cross-country trip to help advise on the opinion of value of a 25,000 square foot home in the Houston area, a Castle (literally, a Castle!) located just outside the City of New York, and some other coastal properties just outside of San Francisco. I can attest to the fact that the housing market does, in fact, … (0 comments)

ed kaminsky: Spotlight on East Manhattan Beach, CA 90266 - 03/02/11 06:31 AM
Manhattan Beach, CA -  (East Manhattan Beach)
Some say there is no life East of Sepulveda, however,  those "in the know", know there is more life East of Sepulveda in comparison to the rest of Manhattan Beach.
There is more outdoor space, more square footage, wider streets with more parking, more distance from your neighbors, more privacy, bigger back yards, more sidewalks, and larger parks: simply more for your money, if that is what you value.
"East Manhattan" as described in real estate terms is bordered by Sepulveda Blvd to the West, Aviation Blvd. to the East, Artesia Blvd. to the … (0 comments)

ed kaminsky: Focus on Manhattan Beach's Sand Section - 02/22/11 05:32 AM
Manhattan Beach, CA - The Sand Section, located just south of Los Angeles on one of the best beaches in the United States, is one of the most unique niche real estate markets in the Country.  From the Ocean-front Strand properties to the postage stamp sized multimillion dollar lots, from bungalows, to mini estates. A full lot is usually 2700 square feet but there are plenty of half lots at 1350sf as well. This is not your Daddy's back 40, considering that the lots are only 30 feet wide.
