foreclosures: Vacant homes a problems in communities across America - 01/24/11 05:31 AM
Vacant homes in our communities are a real, and growing problem! A recent article about the home at 812 Everett Drive (in Lansing Michigan, not Snohomish county) brought me back to thinking about it again.  I posted a week or so about how banks are putting the expense of maintaining vacant and foreclosed on homes over onto the cities and avoiding paying their bills.  In this case, the home had been vacant since 2006 and since then the city has been forced to be the caretaker of the exterior, cutting the overgrown grass, pulling trash from the yard.

This morning I opened my mail and found an update from Fannie Mae talking about how much better the economy and real estate markets will be in 2012.  But they temper this with references to the shadow inventory of homes and number of foreclosures yet to be done.

foreclosures: Fannie Mae Announces a Hold on Foreclosures! - 02/13/09 01:09 PM
OK, this is breaking news from the Fannie Mae News Releases:

Fannie Mae Suspends Foreclosure Sales Pending Administration Announcement WASHINGTON, DC -- Fannie Mae (FNM/NYSE) today announced it is suspending all foreclosure sales and evictions of occupied properties through March 6 in anticipation of the Administration's national foreclosure prevention and loan modification program. The company had previously put in place a suspension of foreclosure sales through January and had previously suspended all evictions through the end of February.
