rogers ar realtor: Malapropism is the new word of the day. - 03/21/12 08:41 PM

Malapropism is the new word of the day.
Well I do this daily do you?  I’ll bet ya I’ll do it before I go to bed tonight and tomorrow when I wake up.  That is why I sometimes use word and then copy and paste it to the comment section.  Have you guessed it yet come on give it a shot.  OK, OK I’ll save you from getting it wrong again.  The meaning of (mal’e prap iz’em) is the ludicrous misuse of words, through confusion caused by resemblance in sound.  So I always have trouble with to and too, don’t … (14 comments)

Maladroit is the new word of the day.
Regardless if you are male or female you have struggled with this problem.  You had this problem in your younger years and trust me when you get older it rears its ugly head again.  So if you think you have outgrown it guess again.  So I guess you would like to know the meaning of (mal’d droit) is awkward; clumsy or bungling.  It goes full circle should you survive so long and I for one hope you all of you are around for a very long time maladroit and all.. :~)

Well what have we here for one thing the Internet connection is down and I'm doing this only phone so if there are any mistakes please excuse them. Can you imagine what my life must be if I have time and like to browse through Webster's (r) looking for words to write about, not exciting for sure but it's fun for me and apparently for you also. So when I get comments I do especially when the comments are funny and I actually LOL while reading them. Now for the meaning of ( maf' ik) is to celebrate in an exuberant, … (11 comments)

rogers ar realtor: Hugger-mugger are the new words of the day. - 03/17/12 09:47 PM

Hugger-mugger are the new words of the day.
I chose to use two words for today and did so because that is how they are in my Webster’s®.  I’ve had people do this to me in the past and I find it hard to trust people because of it.  So to get to my point I need to tell you the meaning of (hug’er mug’er) is to keep secret, to behave in a secretive or confused way.  Therefore I understand there are things I don’t need to know and some things I know that I wished I didn’t.  What can’t … (7 comments)

Pecky is the new word of the day…
I was going to write about another word but I’m debating on how to use it without getting censored.  So you’re stuck with this one for today.  I’ve seen this and I know you have also; the question is how any times you’ve seen this.  So now I guess you would like to know the meaning of (pek’e) is showing or marked by spots or holes caused by decay.  So now that you know the meaning of pecky what say you?

Penetralia is the new word of the day..
In our profession we can’t have any of this.  I have in the past known people in the past and really currently that do this.  I for one will not do this because it will most assuredly get me in trouble.  Now for the meaning of (pen’I tra’le e) things kept private or secret.  No secrets in this profession.  Don’t want to stand before a judge and try and tell him/her why I decided to keep it a secret regardless of what it is.  What say you?

Quaff is the new word of the day.
Well if you read this I bet ya you’re wondering where in the world I found this one.  Well to tell you the truth it was in my Webster’s ®.  Now I’ve done this and some people who comment on my blogs I know have done this.  Of course the question I have for you is not if you’ve done this because I know you have the question is how often?  So the meaning of (kwaf) is to drink deeply in a hearty or thirsty way.  Now what say you?

For all you math wizards see if you can guess this one out before you read the answer.

Pawn is the new word of the day.
Now, now I know what first came into your mind but I assure you it’s not what you think.  We all know pawn shop where you take in an item and either sell it or give it to the broker for some funds.  Then there is the pawn used in a game called chess but in both cases you would be wrong.  The meaning of pawn (pon) I have chosen is a person used to advance another’s purposes.  I like being used as a pawn for my clients.  I help them advance … (11 comments)

Putsch is the new word of the day.
I really had reservations about posting this word.  Those of you who think they knew me than you know I just couldn’t resist and so here I take the leap again.  People all over the world you can see it on the news is doing this.  We can do this almost every year and surely every four years if you haven’t guess it yet the meaning of (pooch) is a sudden political uprising or rebellion.  Here is the good Old USA we have a rebellion of sorts every four years regardless of … (7 comments)

Otiose is the new word of the day…
I must say I recently dealt with one of these.  Don’t know about you but I don’t like them or even want to be around them.  These people are something I would like to give to another agent that has wronged me. :~) Not really I just go and try to work with them for a little while.  I’m not one to beat around the bush and tell them outright when they are serious come see me again.  Usually that is the last I hear from them.  So the meaning of (o’she … (13 comments)

Clachan is the new word of the day.
There are a few of these still around here but not many.  Of course that all depends on the size of the clachan’s around you there may not be any close and there may not be any at all.  Hillary once said it I think but she used a different term.  Guess it yet?  The meaning of (klakh’en) is a hamlet and of course the meaning of hamlet is a small village.  Now that you know the meaning what say you?

Bailey is the new word of the day.
OK I could not get this one by the wife.  Although she did not nail it she came so darn close while writing this I can’t help but to shake my head in disbelief of how she knew this.  We as agents should know this word but just to be sure I looked in my handy dandy workbook.  You know the one we used to study for the exam.  Anyway it’s not in there so the meaning of (ba’le) is the outer wall or court of a medieval castle.  With some of … (9 comments)

Flummery is the new word of the day.
This is so good I will tell you right up front its origin is Welsh. I’ve had clients and so called friends do this to me and I was not impressed.  So what I would like to know is how often it has happened to you and do feel it’s happening now?  The meaning of (flum’er e) is meaningless flattery or silly talk.    So you don’t need to tell me a lot of my posts is meaningless flattery or sill talk but until now I didn’t know they had a word for … (10 comments)

Mesne is the new word of the day.
Having been to real estate school I don’t recall this word showing up.  Just looked in the booklet provided and sure enough it’s not there.  But anyway it does exist so having found it I thought I would write about it.  Have you guessed its meaning?  If not join the crowd so the meaning of (men) middle; intermediate; intervening: mesne profits are profits accruing from the time possession of land has been improperly withheld from its rightful owner until his or her reinstatement in possession of the property.  That was a mouthful … (11 comments)

Portend is the new word of the day.
OK it’s not pretending it’s portend.  I bet most of you have had dreams that seems so real this could and maybe has happened.  I know when my incident in 1987 happened I had a thought in the back of my mind it would happen but not to the extent it did or to the extent of the way it affected me.  So now for the meaning of (por tend’) to be an omen or warning of; foreshadow; presage.  So have you experienced that 6th sense and ran or have you had … (8 comments)
