realtor: Making the impossible closing, possible
- 10/06/08 08:57 AM
Often in this business, and especially now given the current state of the housing and mortgage markets, I often hear some people say a closing or deal is 'impossible' or it 'will never close'. I especially like these challenges and love to use my experience, expertise, and good old fashioned hard work to get these deals closed and make all the parties involved with the transaction happy. I recently closed another 'impossible' deal that everyone assumed was a train wreck heading off the tracks. The property was in foreclosure, the sellers were getting divorced, not too cooperative and could care less (3 comments)
realtor: Choosing the right title company could be the difference between losing a deal and closing
- 07/24/08 08:59 AM
In my nearly 10 years of working in the real estate, mortgage, and title business I have heard and witnessed many a horror story about closings lost due to the ineptitude, careless mistakes, lack of communication, or just plain poor customer service on the part of title companies. Although title companies do have an actual product they sell, the title insurance policy, they are truly a service based business. Customer service needs to be a number one priority of title companies, not only to their direct client (i.e. the mortgage broker or Realtor who referred the deal) but especially to their customer (4 comments)
realtor: Your Real Estate Power Team
- 07/23/08 07:34 AM
As the title agent in my BNI group it is only natural for me to be able to refer and receive business from the Realtor and mortgage broker in my BNI Chapter. Since I joined BNI two years ago I have seen both the original Realtor and mortgage broker leave our chapter (one transferred to a different BNI chapter that fit his schedule better, the other left the mortgage business to pursue other interests). It has taken some time to build my power team and to form new relationships with the new mortgage broker and Realtor in our chapter, but it (1 comments)
realtor: Changes in the market always bring out the best and worst in people
- 07/22/08 08:55 AM
With the downturn of the market and the current foreclosure crisis I have noticed it has brought out the best and worst of people in the real estate industry. Many realtors have stepped up and gotten training on short sales and have been able to help some homeowners avoid foreclosure and at least partially save their credit. They have worked many hours negotiating with banks and loss mitigation departments and remained persistant in marketing and finally closing the property. But with the good comes the bad. Many unsavory characters have been capitalizing on the foreclosure crisis and have made a living (4 comments)
realtor: As the market turns.... be the change
- 07/16/08 07:01 AM
For the past few months I have heard on almost a daily basis the following questions: "When is the real estate market going to bounce back?", "Has the market hit bottom yet?" and "When is a good time to buy before home prices go back up?". All of these are valid questions, even if there is no 'real' and 'true' answer to be given. To be honest, by the time people realize that the market is 'coming back', most of the best deals will be long gone while they waited for prices to hit rock bottom. The only way to really 'fix' the real (2 comments)

realtor: What do you like and dislike about working with title companies?
- 05/30/08 02:57 AM
In my nearly 10 years of experience in the real estate, mortgage and title business I have heard many raves as well as many complaints about working with title companies. We have modeled our business to avoid many of the common problems and issues realtors and mortgage brokers have with title companies such as a lack of communication, timeliness of service and clearance of title issues; but we are always constantly striving to improve and stay on top of the game. In an effort to get an idea of what other companies are doing right and wrong I pose the following questions: -What (0 comments)
