real estate training: Are you a dreamer?
- 01/13/12 03:45 AM
My mind has been very active the last few days in thought about the new year. A new year is one of the great gifts God gives us. It is a chance to wipe the slate clean and set out about the business of doing what we set out to do. My thoughts have been fueled by reading Dave Ramsey's "EntreLeadership" and identified strongly with some points he makes:To be a dreamer is a great thing but is a negative without action. The next step of dreaming is having vision. Having vision is to incorporate actions with your dreams. He had a (0 comments)
real estate training: 2011 Middle TN Real Estate Market Commentary
- 12/13/11 03:24 AM
I continue to be bothered by the constant negative news. I stopped watching all news broadcasts several months ago. Here's the hard truth. Bad stuff is considered news and people listen. It's an unfortunate fact of life. But in the Middle TN market, the news isn't that grim. Here is my perspective from the Middle Tennessee market area. First of all, please remember that when you are watching a national news broadcast, it is written to a national audience and therefore is not specific to a market area. Location, location, location... have you heard that expression before? Your local market may be better (0 comments)
real estate training: Letting Go
- 11/09/11 06:33 AM
Someone shared a quote with me that goes like this "we are willing to let go of anything, except our own misery". How true is this statement! Have you ever noticed that you will hold onto ill feelings for as long as you are capable? When I have a negative emotion cross me during the day, it completely throws me off. I have a hard time functioning the way I should until I let it go and/ or address and resolve it. Letting go of negative emotions could very well be the single most profitable thing you can do for yourself! Once (4 comments)
real estate training: Perspective
- 10/26/11 05:17 AM
I had a recent conversation that really defined how differently people feel and think about things. Because we were brought up differently and taught to value different things, we tend to perceive things differently. After all perception is reality... right?! I was told a story about a conversation between 2 ladies on a road trip. In this closed enviornment, it is hard to just walk away, so there is a captive audience. My friend told me that she carried on with a younger lady that continually related everything to her husband. She would say "oh, Bob always says...", Bob and I (0 comments)
real estate training: Emotions!
- 10/12/11 03:46 AM
When building a house, the first, most important step, is to put a good foundation under it. At Red Realty, we have a foundational belief we call ADD. Sure, you think you know what it means, but at Red it means Attitude, Determination, and Desire.
The A, is the single most important characteristic, but let's look at the D's. Collectively, these two can be seen as Emotions. What emotions are needed to be productive and therefore successful? What emotions motivate you?
For me, I must be passionate about what I am doing, it must have meaning to me and (0 comments)
real estate training: Coaching
- 09/16/11 03:41 AM
The more I coach my children's youth teams, the more I discover that life is simply coaching different types of people in all kinds of situations. You don't have to have a whistle around your neck and clipboard in hand to assume the role of a coach. Another truth to understand about coaching is that coaching principles and concepts are no different when coaching a sales team than they are when coaching a ball team. You always start with the most simple, foundational parts of what you are teaching and build off that. You daily focus on improving on the area(s) deficiencies (0 comments)
real estate training: Building a Performance Culture
- 09/16/11 03:01 AM
What does Red Realty need to do to Build a performance culture? First, we need to be humble and teachable. Second, everyone has to “buy in” to the big picture.
We know we have the right people on our bus. We are prepared to play at a new level. We have the right “tools”. We are setting our schedule to win championships, not just wins.
Are you/ we humble and teachable? Do you/ we all believe that Red is the best company and are you/ we willing to do the things we need to do to prove that (0 comments)
real estate training: Effectuate Change!

As a company owner, my mind takes me to thoughts of growth and ways to increase our market share. In doing so, I am always reminded that a leaders job is to always be a catalyst for change. In doing so, we create energy, synergy, attention, and results. It's hard to be complacent if your mind and body are moving! In my blog, I write to those who are looking for a career change, a change in attitude, a company change and the like. As I write, I think to myself... I wonder how much leadership happens in other companies? How much time do (0 comments)
