asheville land and farms: LAND BUYS THAT LOOK TO THE FUTURE Asheville-Style - 07/02/17 01:39 PM
LAND BUYS with an eye to the future has been on the mind of our clients... especially the 1031 Like-Kind Exchange folks.  Even though the hunt for “the perfect acreage” moves forward in  almost any season, folks from down south, and north, and west, and yes, even from Eastern North Carolina's magnificent ocean shores  head for the mountains and beautiful rural farmlands of Western North Carolina seems to be a little more intense in the summer.  Possibly, that’s because the fresh cool air is particularly welcoming.   For those who have discovered the lands I love, there's no doubt that investing in Land right  now is a smart … (1 comments)

asheville land and farms: Asheville –Warm Greetings! And a Do-It-Yourself Home-Energy Audit - 12/11/13 10:03 PM

Asheville is lighting up -warm with good cheer.
But it is chilly this time of year.
As the holidays draw near,
Good idea to save energy- to be crystal clear.
A little elf told me that most homes can save 25% to 50% or more energy.  So, ahome energy audit is a gift you can give yourself. It can help point the way to savings by investigating the general condition of heating and air conditioning systems,  looking at  insulation, and the degree of outside air infiltration, the operation and condition of lighting, and reviewing the efficiency of water heating systems and … (3 comments)

asheville land and farms: Rock Solid - 08/10/10 05:47 PM

There flies destiny in the distance. . . soft as a zephyr beyond the rock-solid foothold yesterday claimed. There wings tomorrow in up-the-valley moments, tossing color to the wind with her wild feathered brush,as Grandmother Appalachia draws bits of your story to her, like the ancient mountainsbeckon the clouds to whisper their secretsto the Carolina Blue sky.Destiny in the distance. . .echoes of your songs and of those who went before youring beyond the mortal days when we were earthbound at Raptor Rock, and only saw a very, very hard edge.Destiny in the distance. . . chimes to bless the long view, and turn life's boulders into possibility.

What is the Return on Investment (ROI) potential for LAND?  Low Jewell, Land 101 Instructor thinks the answer is evident. Just look at  supply and demand. "There's only so much Land," says Lou. Conclusion:  Land has solid potential to produce gains of great magnitude. Certainly, some of the wealthiest people in history invested in Land, and won.

Asheville eco-friendly lots and land, and a white cat predict  positive futures in 2010 and beyond.

"Follow a white cat  and  you may 'sense' the very land beneath your feet." a mountain man told me not long ago.
Just an old myth?
Possibly true. However, so many of my land clients know right away that "this" spot called to them, that  there may be something to it!
LAND and those who live on the land may have a certain mutual  attraction. . . .Think about it :You may be a person who is drawn to steep trails leading to alpine pastures at 4,500 feet at … (5 comments)

LAND FOR SALE BY OWNER (or NOT)
As a Land Specialist, I get to walk incredible acreages.-some land for sale by owner-some listed on the MLS. I never cease to be thrilled when I get "that certain feeling" within seconds of stepping on LAND that resonates with me. I have found that my clients feel the same way. It is funny how that happens. Within literally seconds, they/we simply "know". And when we "know" it's the "RIGHT ONE"...it's like finding treasure .....

asheville land and farms: Asheville Dream Farm - 05/30/09 05:36 AM
Dateline Asheville, North Carolina, May, 2009News and Views from Asheville's Greenolina, Real Estate Eco-Steward

Early morning is a splendid time to view property . There is the fresh mountain air of Asheville. There are the songs of cardinals. There is the sense of adventure as you head out from Asheville. Today we aimed north and west to a property one of our favorite colleagues requested we review.  Rolling down the highway we enjoyed the pale-blue mountains almost feathered into the still-pink skies. We anticipated something very special as the description hinted: .
- 9.31 Rolling and usable acres, recently surveyed- 3 acres of … (6 comments)

David Tuch, VP at Equinox Environmental has a wealth of knowledge and experience. A presenter at the 2009 GREEN HOMES (and Land)  Tour, Tuch is involved in an array of eco-community developments in the Greater Asheville, NC area.
During the presentation time, Tuch, an expert consultant for the Mountain Landscapes Initiative, talked about  how  we can grow local economies in North Carolina's mountain region without threatening the natural assets that attract new people and new investment. He also looked at  how to adjust to change in the mountains without sacrificing community character and sense of place.
Following that thought he asked . . … (1 comments)

asheville land and farms: Asheville NC Lifestyle: Land and Sky and Mountains...and QUALITY - 04/04/09 12:33 AM

Pure Possibility
At a time when some people see barren fields, I see possibility in this landscape. I love the way the golden earth carves a space against the canvas--those incredible Carolina Blue skies. And this land is quietly asking for a steward. It is an old Appalachian farm looking for a family to take good care of it. I wonder ....dol  you see what I see, and will that be  you?  ....

asheville land and farms: Asheville GREEN RELOCATION TOURS: Horse Farms and Equestrian Estates - 02/21/09 07:00 AM
I met a horse-loving visitor not long ago. She was thinking of relocating to Asheville and was looking for  "...a  turnkey organic farm with a good horse barn where  like-minded people could share the acreage and facilities... " .
I recommended she take on of the AshevilleGREEN RELOCATION TOURS specifically designed  for folks looking for horse farms and/or acreages.
Here in the Asheville area where sustainabilityis highly regarded and organic agriculture is on the rise, taking the time to get to know the area and topography, especially if you are into horses,  just makes sense to me. Rolling and  south-facing property is at … (3 comments)

asheville land and farms: Asheville Relocating: Grand GREEN Tours Make It Easier - 02/17/09 08:44 AM
Seems like almost every one who comes to the Happiest City in the USA (that's Asheville) wants to stake a claim here.
So wandering around taking in  Asheville's  landmarks, historic buildings, art galleries and shops soon seems to turn to a desire for deeper investigation of  sustainable and historic neighborhoods, horse farms and eco-communities, urban lofts, and expansive acreages.
Recently, I talked with the Eco Certified ®Real Estate Consultants  at a local firm. I had heard they offered a remedy for would-be property owners who just couldn't resist Asheville's allure and want to relocate......a particular kind of real estate tour.
 They told me...
