austin texas relocation: Austin, Texas Area Named #2 on List for Top-Growing Metro Areas in the U.S. - 04/05/12 07:50 AM
The Austin metro area grew by 3.9% from 2010 to 2011, according to a story cited in the Austin American-Statesman today. I feel blessed to be selling homes in such a vibrant city. I was a little surprised to realize that we are nearing the 2 million mark on population here, frankly (1.78 million as of July 2011). It wasn't that long ago that Austin and all of the surrounding counties were in the 800,000 range.
Williamson County (just north of Austin) is the 10st fastest growing county in the United States now. Hutto was the fastest growing city in Texas … (3 comments)

austin texas relocation: Austin Earns Yet Another Honor - "Top City For a Fresh Start" - 05/22/09 12:45 PM
Relocation.com released an interesting new list a couple of days ago, naming Austin, Texas #1 on its list of "Top Cities for a Fresh Start".  This is an interesting study, and one which seems particularly apt considering the rough economic factors facing many parts of the country.  The data includes some unique categories:
Job Growth (Austin is #1) Home Affordability Volunteerism Rate Popularity for Relocation The volunteerism rate was cited as a measure of the strength of the community.  For this particular item, Austin was #5 on the list.
With regard to popularity, the article states:

austin texas relocation: Austin, Texas Named #2 on New List - "5 Cities Where Americans are Relocating" - 05/20/09 01:50 PM
For a long time, I have considered myself blessed to be selling homes in the Austin, Texas area.  It seems like our town gets a fair amount of positive media exposure these days from the national press.  Once again, Austin was recognized with optimistic economic news this week by Forbes.com.
Citing the fact that migration in the U.S. remains down overall, Forbes points out that five cities are still experiencing reasonable growth in 2009: Raleigh, Austin, Charlotte, Phoenix, and Dallas.
This dovetails nicely with a previous story I mentioned on this blog, which indicated that Austin may actually experience a housing … (1 comments)

austin texas relocation: Austin Area Real Estate - Where do you work, Jason? - 04/16/08 01:28 PM

Austin has grown pretty dramatically over the past couple of decades.  In fact, since 1990, Austin's MSA (Metropolitan Statistical Area) has roughly doubled in population during that period, from about 846,000 in 1990 to over 1.5 million today.  Despite this fact, I find this market to be quite manageable in its entirety.  Our team handles sales throughout central Texas.
I have had home buyers and sellers ask me which areas of Austin and the surrounding area I actually work.  Additionally, I had an agent in California ask the same question of me a few days ago.  I thought it might be helpful to … (12 comments)

austin texas relocation: Are You Considering Relocating to Austin, Texas? An Open Letter - 02/29/08 02:09 PM
Dear Potential Austin Home Buyer,
Austin is a beautiful and eclectic town with an optimistic and youthful spirit.  I can understand why you would like to live here with us.  I was born and raised in Dallas, but I have lived here for over 22 years now.
If you are considering relocating to the Austin, Texas area, I would love the opportunity to help you find the right home.  I don't normally write "look at me" articles in my blog, but I realized that not doing so might actually be a disservice to relocating buyers who are unfamiliar with Austin.
