How to tell if an EPDM roof is wet.
EPDM (Ethylene Polypropylene Diene Monomer) is a synthetic rubber roofing surface, produced by Firestone, and if installed properly will last 15 - 20 years depending on the amount of direct sunshine it gets.
Key words:  installed properly.
Like any product, if a roofing surface is not installed well or according to manufacturer instructions, it will experience problems, sometimes early on.

A tale of two thermal images.
Not long ago, during a new construction inspection, turning on the water in an upstairs bathroom caused a thud inside the wall and a vigorous water leak.
You can read about it here.
That required a company to come and try to dry the house out.  Drywall will dry up pretty quickly.  Woodwork inside the walls less quickly, and hardwood flooring taking even longer than that.
