In addition to taking care of many clients these days, my family is preparing to go back to Legos, Nigeria on a philanthropic trip. We leave in October and will be gone for 10 days. My wife and I are in charge of photography and video for the journey. This is one of the main reasons that I do mortgages and refinances- to finance these trips and help people in need. With the recent news that mortgage rates have jumped up, today's positive market movement was like a breath of fresh air! Bank of America reported that the Fed is likely to buy more mortgage bonds in a response to the higher interest rates. Again, in this volatile market, it is best to get your refinance application and paperwork in and float your rate until we see an ideal day to lock.

interest rates: Mortgage Interest Rate Tip For Those Deciding To Refinance

A little interest rate tip for those considering whether to refinance or deciding whether to lock in their rate... The New York Federal Reserve, yesterday, reported that it purchased 21.7 billion dollars worth of MBS (mortgage backed securities) from April 9 through April 15. The purchases were mainly concentrated in the 4% to 6% coupon range. What this does is tell us that mortgage interest rates have little chance for more improvement... unless, the FED starts purchasing 3% to 3.5% coupons.
