You’ve seen signs and posters hanging around town, you’ve browsed online advertising, schedules and lineups, you pass people in the street with their ‘fringe on’, and, are wondering, just what is the Kansas City Fringe Festival all about? Continuing now through July 28th, 2013, in a nutshell, this ninth rendition of the Kansas City Fringe Festival is a celebration of local, regional, and national talent in a number of venues throughout Kansas City. Numerous live performances include theater, dance, performance art, visual art, spoken word, puppetry, storytelling, film and fashion.

The University of Missouri--Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance has been recently exploring the idea of moving from their current split home to a ‘Campus for the Arts’ in the Crossroads area of downtown Kansas City, Missouri. In the 3rd of 3 exciting recent announcements about arts institutions in the Kansas City area, the Muriel McBrien Kauffman Foundation has announced a $20 million ‘challenge grant’ to help turn this recent dream into reality. While this blog is not specifically an ‘arts blog’(or real estate news and tips blog, or advertising blog, or any other single-topic-type of blog--it is probably best defined as a ‘community news and real estate tips blog’), we love all of the great things going on artistically in the Kansas City area and how the Kansas City community is so supportive of same. It is such a wonderful part of living in KC that we can’t help but share(brag) about!

Numerous arts and sports entities and supporters have invested $3 billion over the past decade, or so, in Kansas City. Is this the beginning of Kansas City's Golden Age? The Kansas City Star's Hampton Stevens thinks so. See if you agree: "The Golden Year Kansas City Came Of Age" What do you think?

arts: Kansas City Amongst Kiplinger's 10 Great Cities for Young Adults!

Austin, Chicago, New York--all cities you can easily imagine being great places for young adults. But, one place you might easily overlook that Kiplinger did not: Kansas City, Missouri! If you are familiar with KC, then probably not a surprise--we have a great balance of affordable housing & low cost of living, businesses and business opportunities, and, our fair share of arts/culture/nightlife/entertainment (More so than the article would seem to indicate!). One correction: Though light rail has been explored here on many occassions, NOTHING under construction at this time.
