You’ve seen signs and posters hanging around town, you’ve browsed online advertising, schedules and lineups, you pass people in the street with their ‘fringe on’, and, are wondering, just what is the Kansas City Fringe Festival all about? Continuing now through July 28th, 2013, in a nutshell, this ninth rendition of the Kansas City Fringe Festival is a celebration of local, regional, and national talent in a number of venues throughout Kansas City. Numerous live performances include theater, dance, performance art, visual art, spoken word, puppetry, storytelling, film and fashion.

The University of Missouri--Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance has been recently exploring the idea of moving from their current split home to a ‘Campus for the Arts’ in the Crossroads area of downtown Kansas City, Missouri. In the 3rd of 3 exciting recent announcements about arts institutions in the Kansas City area, the Muriel McBrien Kauffman Foundation has announced a $20 million ‘challenge grant’ to help turn this recent dream into reality.
