1. Average existing home sale price was $184,739, 7% higher than June 2012.
2. All metro counties experienced an increase in average sale price EXCEPT Johnson County, Kansas and Cass County, Missouri.
3. The number of existing homes sold was 2,719, a 10% increase over 1 year earlier.
4. Existing home inventory was 8 percent lower than in June 2012, representing a 5.7 months supply, which is considered a balanced (0 comments)

We at The GreatLife Team of KC love talking real estate, with the question we get most often being: ‘So, how’s the market?’ And, the bottom line is that it always depends on WHERE you are talking about--you know, that location, location, location thing. But, having said that, there are certainly some national and local trends worth highlighting and comparing, and, recently, The National Association of Realtors did just that, analyzing 2013 first-quarter numbers for the Kansas City area, and, comparing them to national averages and market trends. Coldwell Banker just released the COLDWELL BANKER REAL ESTATE HOME LISTING REPORT OF MOST EXPENSIVE AND AFFORDABLE U.S. HOUSING MARKETS and, once again, Kansas City, Missouri shines bright when it comes to Real Estate--ranked as the 7th least expensive housing market nationwide and THE most affordable market within the state of Missouri (Our sister city on the east side of the state takes the most expensive honors for Missouri)!

Though the KC-area market has experienced a slow down post-the April 30th Tax Credit Expire--like in numerous places across the country--we, by far, still have a rock-solid Real Estate Market, with some great Buying opportunities out there!
Also, were you aware (BEFORE you saw this headline), that the KC-metro was recently ranked TOPS by Forbes as Mortgage-friendly for Barrowers?!!! Surprised? Shouldn't be--there is a lot to love about living in the heartland of America!!! Forgive me if this posting is not quite what you expect, as this blog post is NOT real-estate specific (I hope you make it such with your contributions!), although, I would like to think it could sure have a positive impact on our outlook and approach to same! I'll save the dramatics, as you know the old adage: "If it bleeds, it leads!" It is so easy to find just that approach to news applied across the board in our pop-media, from the international to local level.
