Hamilton Reservoir, also known as Holland Lake is located south of the center of Holland, MA.  It is fully recreational and relatively large at 412 acres.  Hamilton Reservoir is split by Mashapaug Road into two parts - a north basin and a south basin.  The reservoir is pretty shallow with an average depth of 6 feet and a maximum depth of 21 feet.  There are approximately 9 miles of shoreline which is 70% developed with residential homes and cottages.  The southern most tip of the reservoir lies in the state of Connecticut.

Located in Worcester, the Higgins Armory Museum is the only museum in the Northeast dedicated to the study and display of arms and armor.  From it's unique architecture to it's historic artifacts, it is a true informative and entertaining environment.  The museum is housed in an Art Deco steel building and hosts one of the largest collections of arms and armor in the world.  There are over 80 suits of armor from Medieval to renaissance pieces.  It's a great place for the whole family to check out!

There are many orchards throughout Central Mass, but the one closest to our home and the one we visit most often is the Breezelands Orchards.  Located at 1791 Southbridge Road in Warren, this wonderful orchard was established in 1896 by the Tuttle family and still is owned and operated by their family.  Breezelands Orchards has more than 100 acres featuring over 8,000 fruit trees.

The South Charlton Reservoir in Charlton, MA is a full recreational lake without restrictions!  You can boat, swim, ski and fish!  This is said to be the 3rd cleanest lake in Massachusetts.  South Charlton Reservoir features a great water-ski club for all that are interested.  The SCRA (South Charlton Reservoir Association) Water Ski Club has been around for more than 50 years to help teach people how to water ski and wakeboard.  They encourage community involvement and it is not mandatory to be a lake resident to participate in the Ski Club.  The SCRA often hosts charitable events to help the Worcester County … (0 comments)

Glen Echo Lake is located in Charlton, MA and is a fully recreational lake.  It is approximately a 116 acre lake.  There is a portion of the lake where it gets narrow and locals call this "The Narrows".  Because the lake is smaller, they enforce speed limits and boating regulations to help keep the lake enjoyable and safe for all.  The Glen Echo Improvement Association was formed in 1972 and currently has 115 resident members.  It costs $25/year to join and they help maintain the lake and do weed control.

Wachusett Reservoir is a 4,135 acre reservoir located in several towns (Boylston, Clinton, Hubbardston, Holden, Leominster, Princeton, Rutland, Sterling, and West Boylston).  Wachusett Reservoir was built between 1897-1908 by damming the South Branch of the Nashua River.  The Wachusett Reservoir still supplies some of Boston's water and gets some of it's water from the Quabbin Reservoir.  This reservoir is the source of drinking water for over $2 million people and activities are strictly regulated out here.  There is no swimming or direct contact activities allowed here.  Wachusett Reservoir is the second largest body of water in the state of Massachusetts covering … (2 comments)

James and I used to live in some apartments off of Frank Street in Worcester, very close to Lake Quinsigamond.  Lake Quinsigamond, also known as Long Pond, is located on the Worcester and Shrewsbury lines.  It covers about 772 acres and ranges from 50 to 85 feet deep.  The lake is pretty long and narrow and stretches 4 miles long.  Lake Quinsigamond has 8 islands, most are privately owned by local citizens.  Drake Island is state owned and is the largest of the islands on this lake.
