100 days of central mass: Day 18: 100 Days of Central Mass Features Niagara Falls - 07/30/09 01:40 PM
James, James Jr. and I took a trip to Niagara Falls to visit some of our old friends from North Carolina that were staying in Buffalo, NY.  I was about 8 months pregnant with William and we were taking a risk since Niagara was about 6 hours away from home and my doctors!  We spent a few days out at the falls and it is by far one of my favorite places to visit.  I can remember when we first got there (and it was my first time, but not James') I looked at the falls from the United States side … (0 comments)

100 days of central mass: Day 17: 100 Days of Central Mass Features Acadia, Maine - 07/29/09 07:25 AM
A few years ago it was pouring like crazy on Mother's day.  I love the sunshine.  James packed up the kids and decided that we were going to drive and drive until we found some sunshine to enjoy!  We headed up the coast and into Maine.  Not sure where we were going, we ended up in Acadia and Bar Harbor, Maine.  There wasn't much daylight left, but the rain was gone and the kids were hungry so we rented a small cabin on the water and got some pizza at Pizza Hut.  We visited Acadia National Park, Cadillac Mountain and of course … (0 comments)

100 days of central mass: Day 16: 100 Days of Central Mass Features New York, NY - 07/27/09 03:05 PM
New York City!  What else do I have to say?  Bright lights, big buildings and billions of things to see and do.  When we first moved to Massachusetts, James and I decided one night to drive to New York city and back.  We were gone all night long...took a few hours to get out there, drive around for about an hour and then drive back.  It was crazy!  We planned a better trip a few years later where we could relax and actually see the city.  We stayed out on Long Island by the ocean and drove into the city for dinner.  … (0 comments)

DAY 15:  100 DAYS OF CENTRAL MASS FEATURES CAPE COD, MA
Let's take a drive 90 minutes from Central Mass to Cape Cod, one of my favorite places to visit!  Cape Cod is full of miles of coastline, tons of great beaches, shops and restaurants.  It's a popular destination for locals and out of staters alike.  Looking for a great beach to visit this summer?  Check out this website that has a great map search broken up by town.
My new-found favorite beach is Old Silver Beach in North Falmouth, MA.  It's warm, clean and was very uncrowded at the … (2 comments)

100 days of central mass: Day 14: 100 Days of Central Mass Features The Berkshires - 07/25/09 03:25 PM
A little over an hour away from Central Mass there is a wonderful place you MUST visit if you are close to this area.  The Berkshires in Massachusetts are full of culture, art, skiing, bed & breakfasts and more.  There is absolutely something for everyone to enjoy in this part of Western Mass.  I planned a getaway trip for James' 30th birthday out here.  We stayed in a timeshare at the rustic Jiminy Peak Resorts and went to see Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.  We had special reservations at a very nice restaurant called Bistro Zinc in Lenox, MA.  … (0 comments)

100 days of central mass: Day 13: 100 Days of Central Mass Features Montreal Canada - 07/24/09 02:59 PM
One crazy night James and I decided to go on a drive to wherever we ended up.  We both agreed to drive to Canada and cross the border for fun.  I had never been outside the US before.  Once we got there we decided we hadn't driven long enough so we went on until we made it to the city of Montreal.  We checked into a hotel called Loews Hotel Vogue.  It was a very luxurious hotel with beautiful accomodations.  We just planned on staying the night and then we would head back home, probably never to return.  Well...when we were … (2 comments)

100 days of central mass: Day 12: 100 Days of Central Mass Features White Mountains, NH - 07/23/09 02:07 PM
Take a drive a couple of hours north of Central Mass you will find an incredible place to visit - The White Mountains in New Hampshire.  A year round vacation spot for outdoor enthusiasts you will enjoy skiing in the winter, swimming, hiking and shopping in the summer and a very kid friendly place to vacation.  We try to visit in the middle to end of August when the weather is warm.  Last year we stayed at the North Conway Grand Hotel where we enjoyed indoor and outdoor pools, free full buffet breakfasts for children and outlet shopping just steps away.  We … (2 comments)

100 days of central mass: Day 11: 100 Days of Central Mass Features Annie's Country Kitchen - 07/22/09 03:05 PM
So out here in Sturbridge we don't really have an IHOP or Denny's to go enjoy some diner food, but we've got better!  Annie's Country Kitchen located on Main Street in Sturbridge right across from JCKC Realty, is a great place to enjoy some good old fashioned home cooking.  You will enjoy mega portions, friendly service and all for a great low price.  Come hungry and you'll leave happy!  I couldn't find a website or menu to share with you, but it's jam packed with soups, sandwiches, salisbury steak, eggs, bacon, sausage, french toast and every other great diner food you … (1 comments)

100 days of central mass: Day 10: 100 Days of Central Mass Features Steaming Tender Restaurant - 07/21/09 02:05 PM
Welcome Aboard!  Do you like trains?  Do you like old world charm?  If you answered yes, you'll LOVE Steaming Tender Restaurant.  Located in the wonderfully restored 19th century Palmer Train Station, this restaurant features a very distinct atmosphere and a menu that includes breakfast and dinner buffets.  Be sure to check the train schedule to see when the next train will be traveling by.  My kids absolutely loved it here.  The train came by while we were eating lunch and shook the entire place.  You could see it out the window.   Good Morning America was at the Steaming Tender on September 14, … (0 comments)

100 days of central mass: Day 9: 100 Days of Central Mass Features Francesco's Italian Restaurant - 07/20/09 08:35 AM
Located on Route 20 in Brimfield in the middle of the famous Brimfield Antique Fair is a great little place called Francesco's Italian Restaurant.  If you like pizza and pasta, this is a wonderful place to try and it's kid friendly!  You get very large portions for low to moderate pricing.  The setting is casual and the staff has always been very pleasant to us.  Our kids love it!  Unfortunately, there is no website so I can't share with you their extensive menu, but from experience I know there's plenty to choose from.  The pizzas are oversized and delicious.  In fact, now … (2 comments)

100 days of central mass: Day 8: 100 Days of Central Mass Features Zorbas - 07/19/09 01:27 PM
Tonight we are featuring Zorba's Pizzeria & Tavern in Charlton, MA and it's so fitting since that's what James surprised me with for dinner tonight!  This is a great place, you must try it if you like Greek food or pizza.  We love to order the Atlas pizza which is topped with all kinds of meats, Greek Salad and their Garlic Feta Dipwith Pita Bread.  The atmosphere is casual and nice, but our favorite part is the DRIVE-THRU!  With 4 young children, it's very convenient to be able to call and order our food and pick it up at the drive-thru window on our way home.  Their menu features … (0 comments)

100 days of central mass: Day 5: 100 Days of Central Mass Features Osaka - 07/15/09 02:20 PM
Okay, so I'm very hungry so this is going to be a tough post to write!  As soon as I get this knocked out of the way I've got to find some dinner!  It's a shame that my husband and I moved from Worcester to Brookfield because now we hardly ever get to eat at Osaka.  Osaka is a great Japanese restaurant located in White City Plaza in Shrewsbury just on the Worcester line.  Osaka unfortunately does not have a website to list =( but you can trust me, they are excellent!  When you dine in they will cook right in … (0 comments)

100 days of central mass: Day 2: 100 Days of Central Mass Features Wild Willy's Burgers - 07/12/09 12:39 PM
Nothing beats a mouth watering Wild Willy's Burgers burger after a long day of showing houses!  We found out about this great place thanks to one of our clients - Kay Roberts.  Wild Willy's Burgers leaves McDonalds and Burger King in the dust!  These burgers are fresh, BIG and come in almost every flavor style you can think of.  Their "country fair" fries are hand made and super delicious!  Not a burger person?  That's okay!  They have awesome chicken sandwiches or chicken tenders.  Pair anything on their menu up with a huge frosty mug of root beer and you're golden!  Click here … (1 comments)

100 days of central mass: Day 1: 100 Days of Central Mass Features Rovezzi's Ristorante - 07/11/09 03:00 AM

If you are ever in the Sturbridge area and trying to decide between the MANY great restaurants we have out here, I must urge you to dine at Rovezzi's Ristorante.  This is hands down my favorite fine and casual dining restaurant in Central Mass.  I fall in love with any good Italian restaurant, but this one is above the rest.  The atmosphere is very nice and the dress-code is casual.  Located at the corner of Route 20 and School Street you could never tell the treasures awaiting inside for you in this older colonial looking house.  Click here to review their menu that includes famous Italian dishes such as … (2 comments)
