showing a home with a pet: Should Pets Be Allowed in a Home During a Showing?

We hear about service animals and "comfort animals" and are not supposed to turn them away in public places. Now should we allow other people's pets into our listings, especially when the property HAS pets?
I had a listing that was a HOT commodity, and was blessed to have LOTS of showings in just two days. Sometime during the 2nd day, (18 or so showings that day) someone brought a dog, and left a deposit in one of the bedrooms.
