frederick: Maryland Comptroller - State Must Rein In Spending - 03/31/11 07:09 AM
Your Distressed Property and Short Sale Expert in Maryland
Peter Franchot, State Comptroller, visited Frederick Maryland on Wednesday, presenting at the Frederick Rotary Club. Getting right to the point, he noted that Maryland is critized for high taxes, regulations, unions, and Democrats.
However, Franchot feels the main problem is bureaucrats feeling entitled in their treatment of the public sector. He thinks public officials need to be more repsonsive and quicker - something that has been lost over the decades.
He said Democrats need to quit thinking of businesses as a bottomless pit to raise money for their programs, and commended Frederick … (0 comments)

frederick: US Housing Prices Drop - Except DC! - 03/31/11 06:37 AM
Your Distressed Property and Short Sale Expert in Maryland
Are we heading into a double-dip recession in the housing market?
Of the 20 urban areas rated by S&P/Case-Schiller home price index, only Washington DC showed a significant increase in home prices in the last year - a substantial 3.6%. (San Diego had a tiny .1% increase)
We already knew that in Frederick County Maryland, being a bedroom community to DC.
Advantages in the DC area are: lack of an inventory glut; 74,000 more jobs over last year; and more people are moving to DC, causing the rental vacancy to fall to a … (3 comments)

A joint project of Mount St. Mary's University, in Emmitsburg, and Constellation Energy, formerly BG&E, to install a 60 acre, thin-film, photovoltaic Solar Farm on agricultural and institution land seems to be on it's way to being approved by Frederick County Board of Appeals.

Your Distressed Property and Short Sale Expert in Maryland
A party from Fort Detrick Maryland, headed by outgoing garrison commander Judith Robinson, visited Harpers Ferry WV on a leadership training outing Wednesday.
George Wunderlich, executive director of the National Museum of Civil War Medicine, in Frederick Maryland, led them through the remants of the town, mostly a tourism dependent community, but once, before the American Civil War, a thriving manufacturing center based on a major federal arsenal making firearms for the US Military.
What decisions led to the collapse of Harper Ferry's thriving economy? That was the lesson for the civilian upper … (0 comments)

frederick: Military Home Buyers - Fort Detrick, Fort Meade, Aberdeen Proving Grounds - 03/23/11 06:08 AM
Your Distressed Property and Short Sale Expert in Maryland
The challenges facing military home buyers are unique. They may need to change duty station on short notice, or change their PCS at the last minute.
Often a spouse will make a quick trip into town to decide within two to four days and make an offer. It's like running a sprint as opposed to a marathon - must move quickly to get to the finish line.I have helped with this a few times - and realize it can be exhausting for the prospective buyers -  they need to get back to base … (1 comments)

frederick: What's a Spoke Factory? - Now Frederick Visitor Center - 03/21/11 07:13 AM
Your Distressed Property and Short Sale Expert in Maryland
Built in 1899, the Frederick Spoke Factory made wooden spokes for carriage wheels - surely you've seen wooden wheeled vehicles in parades!  Early cars still used wooden spokes into the late 1920s.
Gradually the building decayed under many uses in 112 years, but Frederick bought the site in 1995 for a planned extension of East Street.
In 2010, the East St. extension was completed through to I-70, the Board of Education complex was also completed next door, and the renovations began to turn the old spoke factory into the new Frederick Vistor … (0 comments)
