Carlsbad Village has been changing since we moved here in April 2005. We didn’t get to the Village then as much as we do these days since we lived further away than we do now, but it’s always been fun to visit and explore all that the Village offers, and enjoy the dining, shopping and art, and of course the beaches.
And Carlsbad Village keeps changing - even the Carlsbad sign is fairly recent, installed December 2014!
During the recession, as in other communities, there were some businesses that closed, and it was not unusual to see vacant (16 comments)
I took a break last evening after a busy afternoon, and we took a drive to the beach a few miles away to take in the sunset. The sky coming down Carlsbad Village Drive was an incredible color, and the crowds were out, being Saturday evening.
We go stuck in traffic so we just missed watching the sun dip below the horizon when we got to the coast road. There were hundreds of people out watching, in the small park at the edge of town, walking along the "boardwalk," hanging out at the outdoor bar area at Dini's by (20 comments)
The Carlsbad Village neighborhood is certainly one of the more diverse in Carlsbad in terms of the amenities, and the wide range of housing opportunities.
Living in or near the Village has a strong appeal for many who want the beach life but also easy access to all the Village has to offer – restaurants, abundant shopping, wine bars, spas, galleries, the New Village Arts Theater, and so much more.
The train station offers Amtrak trains north to LA and beyond and south to San Diego, as well as the Coaster commuter (7 comments)
The long-awaited Bluewater Grill is finally open in Carlsbad Village, joining a list of other restaurants that have opened in the last year or so. This is the 8th restaurant in the chain (with 7 California locations and 1 in Phoenix).
Bluewater Grill replaces the popular Fish House Vera Cruz, a Carlsbad Village dining fixture for years, that closed about 2 years ago (the original restaurant is in San Marcos). The building was completely remodeled and enlarged, and now offers a bar and an outdoor seating area, plus a fresh seafood market.
What an appropriate name for a charming seaside town about 35 miles north of San Diego and 2 hours south of Los Angeles in Southern California.
The California desert cities are a little over 2 hours away to the east and mountains for skiing not much farther.
Carlsbad is far from being a quiet coastal community, despite the relaxed atmosphere that is readily apparent. Indeed, visitors, and residents, are often surprised at how much there really is to do and see in this town of more than 100,000. Let’s take a (16 comments)
