big sur: Wordless Wednesday: Big Sur Coastal View - 05/10/17 03:24 PM
Big Sur Coastal View
It's pretty hard to be wordless when driving the Big Sur coastline, and if you enjoy taking photos you spend a lot of time exclaiming, and stopping to take pictures of this extraordinary area.
This was taken back in 2007, on one of our several trips up the coast to Monterey, San Francisco, and finally wine country. The Big Sur Coastline in California
California has some really beautiful coastline, about 800 of miles of it. The Big Sur area in Monterey County is spectacular and a beautiful drive on a 2-lane road that will have you oohing and aahing at every turn..and boy, are there are lot of them.
This is one of many vistas from our drive from Carlsbad to Napa along the coast back in 2012.

Parts of the coast are very remote and there are some striking homes with gorgeous views (and prices to match!)
The area has suffered from forest fires and experiences periodic mudslides due to the terrain, which can cause delays on the narrow road. Nonetheless it is a spectacular … (26 comments)

big sur: Throwback Thursday: Bixby Bridge in Big Sur, California - 04/14/16 09:57 AM

The Bixby Bridge, built in 1931-1932, is an often-photographed landmark, and so of course I had to do the same. My talent is not nearly as impressive as some pictures I've seen, but it was cool to drive over this historic landmark and get very close for a photo. And the view looking out to the ocean … (32 comments)
