It's hard to believe it's been 9 years since the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton. Yesterday, April 29th, was the anniversary. I'm sure that made your day knowing that!
I took this photo ON April 30th in 2011 of the Cardiff Kook, a popular 6' tall bronze surfing statue in Cardiff by the Sea, that was all dressed up for the occasion. It's located on the Coast Highway at the light at Chesterfield (the downtown area of town) on the ocean side.

Let me rephrase that.
Are you going to watch the Royal Wedding, either live (gad, 5 am EST!!) or via recording?
The Cardiff Kook, the famed surfing statue on the Coast Road/Coast Highway/Route 101 in Carlsbad may be celebrating this Royal Wedding but I didn't have a chance to get by and see.
The statue is dressed up by locals for all sorts of occasions year-round - holidays, special occasions, and so on. It's always fun to see the creativity.

The Cardiff Kook, as the surfing statue at the intersection of the coast road and Chesterfield is affectionately called, was dressed up today for a birthday.
Happy Birthday Avi, whoever you are.
Unfortunately the Kook's bathing suit seems to have slipped abit, so perhaps today was not the real birthday.

I stopped by the CARDIFF KOOK in Cardiff by the Sea yesterday on my travels back from Solana Beach yesterday to see how the KOOK was dressed.
The Cardiff Kook is a well-known surfing statue on the Coast Highway in Cardiff, perhaps best known for the various costumes it adorns during the year at holidays and special events (e.g., the Royal Wedding), rather than for the status itself, other than the notoriety.

Cardiff was in a celebratory mood yesterday, as were millions around the world, who watched the Royal Wedding yesterday, and again and again on the Internet and TV.
Cardiff had its own celebration in honor of the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Ms. Catherine Middleton.
