The 1st Carlsbad Art Wall mural for 2024 was just completed. And it’s pretty different from others we've seen.
Unfortunately the sun was shining directly into the camera so I could not grab a good view other than to get close and angle the shot.
This latest wall art is a dedication to, and celebration of, the Valley Middle School Visual and Performing Arts Program (VAPA), and the teachers and students who make it so special.

The 5th Carlsbad Art Wall mural of 2023 was just completed. And it’s so appropriate for our beach town. I thought the sunlight shining through the palm tree cast some interesting light on the mural, adding to the already brilliant colors.
The wall was painted by Jeff Kukasik, a self-taught artist and surfer from San Clemente, CA.
This is the 38th mural since the founding of the Carlsbad Art Wall. And we’ve seen impressive diversity, creativity, and beauty over the past 8+ years.

The 4th Carlsbad Art Wall (#CAW) mural of 2023 was completed last week. And it’s a very special journey under the sea....certainly appropriate for our seaside community.
The wall was painted by Anna Pearson, who moved to California from the Ukraine.
This is the 37th mural since the Carlsbad Art Wall was founded. There has been some amazing diversity, creativity, and beauty over the past 8 years.

The 2nd Carlsbad Art Wall mural for 2021 just made its appearance this past weekend. “Flow State” was created by Taylor Gallegos, an artist based here in Carlsbad Village. [the sun was casting shadows from the nearby trees, unfortunately]
According to Gallegos… “Flow state is that state of being when times stands still,” Gallegos said. “It’s you and whatever you are doing. You totally zone in, focus and relax; everything just start to go in the direction you want it” (quoted by Bryan Snyder in the “Carlsbad Crawl”).

I previously posted the latest Carlsbad Art Wall mural, by New Zealand artist Chimp, on October 24th. The mural was painted over the prior weekend and I took the photos Monday afternoon the 21st. Normally the artists have completed their creations by the time the weekend ends (when they are always painted), and so I thought this one was done.
I recently learned some additional work was done to the mural which vastly improved it, so here it is. Here's what was posted before - do you have a preference?
The newest Carlsbad Art Wall (CAW) was painted this past weekend, June 15 and 16 by Carlsbad artist, and founder of the CAW in 2015, Bryan Snyder.

The mural was influenced by the Colors of Carlsbad, a partnership for the second year between Visit Carlsbad and the Pantone Color Institute, along with the marketing platform Fohr. The themes depicted in the mural beautifully reflect the Carlsbad lifestyle and our reputation as a travel destination.
