The Flower Fields in Carlsbad are a beautiful sight every year, open from March 1 until Mother's Day in May, with 50 acres of brightly colored ranunculas.
The fields were gorgeous again this year, but sadly closed soon after opening, with events canceled due to the pandemic and the state Shelter in Place order issued on March 19th. Thankfully they are readily viewed from Armada Drive overlooking the fields and the ocean beyond but no doubt revenue suffered tremendously.

The Carlsbad Flower Fields are a joy to behold every year, from March 1 through Mother's Day.
This year is a bit different due to the coronavirus, with the venue closing on March 17th until further notice.
But we can still enjoy the fields by looking down from Armada Drive (with plenty of room to maintain appropriate social distancing but still take photos and videos!). My wife and I went out today to do just that, on a gorgeous day with beautiful ocean views in the distance.
The famous and popular Flower Fields in Carlsbad CA opened today, March 1. This is a photo of the fields in full bloom from a prior year, but it’s a bit early in the season to see how beautiful the fields will be this year when they are in full bloom.
