The 3rd time is the charm, they say, and on our 3rd visit to the Kilauea Lighthouse a couple of weeks ago we were finally able to get close, and to go inside. I’ve been fascinated with lighthouses for years, having spent so much time in New England, so it was quite a treat to take a 30 minute guided tour (15 people only) of this one, easily seen from our villa about 2 miles away across the ocean in Princeville.

We've been to Kaua'i a couple of times and it's on the list for a few months from now. It was such fun to come across the Kilauea Lighthouse not far from Princeville where we were staying back in 2013 (and we could see this in the distance from our condo balcony) especially since, having lived many years in New England, we often enjoyed seeing the many lighthouses along that coast.

Having spent many years living in New England, I've seen alot of lighthouses, from Cape Cod to Maine. Many of them were still active.
On a recent visit to Kaua'i I read about the Kilauea Lighthouse, which we could see across the ocean from our condo in Princeville (bottom close-up photo). It was a must visit, of course. Sadly, it was closed for tourism during that time all the federal parks were closed. But we enjoy the views anyway. Next trip back perhaps we do the tourist thing.
