May Gray in Sunny Southern California
 
 
Our area is known for having fabulous weather. We tend to call it living in paradise. And while we do have sun much of the time, if you look at some of the surveys we are NOT the area in the country with the most sunny days.
 
 
If you have ever seen Steve Martin in LA Story, you’ll probably recall his role as the wacky meteorologist Harris Telemacher where the weather report, day after day, was sunny. Just a little California humor. Not always the case.

May Gray Returns to Carlsbad California
 
The weather pattern that includes the heavier marine layer that we refer to as May Gray, and June Gloom, has returned to Carlsbad in the last few days.
 

 
We have had gorgeous weather in general over the last month or two, with warmer than normal temps, with a few summer-like weekends. But now the May gray is here.
 
Typically you wake up to the gray skies which may or may not burn off, partially, with hazy sunshine or even completely later in the day, then with the marine layer flowing in late afternoon or evening. Each year is … (14 comments)
