We took a couple of days to escape the cooler temps (60 and rainy when we left) and the May Gray in Carlsbad and had a quick getaway in Rancho Mirage, one of the 10 desert cities about 2 hours from the coast. We just spent 36 hours, a quick 2-day stay, in the California desert in Rancho Mirage, a little over 2 hours from our Carlsbad home.
With gorgeous fall weather and temps in the low to mid 80s during the day and mid 60s at night, it was wonderful to get away even if only for a short time. We both had some work to take care of while away but somehow it was easier being in a relaxing environment with wonderful views vs. home in the office.
