Yikes, We Just Bought a House!! Now What? The emotions run high when you get word that you just bought a house, especially for first time home buyers. There’s lots of excitement involved in the search process…exploring the possibilities, envisioning yourself in different houses, dreaming about the future, and perhaps feeling some frustrations, too, at not finding exactly what you want where you want it and for the price you want. There’s the trepidation about making your first offer. Do you make an offer on a house you like? How much should you offer? Should

Helping Kids Adjust to a Relocation - Things for Kids to Do in Carlsbad and Nearby Relocating to a new community from a distance with kids, especially older ones, can be a challenge. Leaving friends behind and everything they enjoy and are familiar with is tough on everyone. When you couple that with the fact they may not know anything about the new community, which makes it feel that much more foreign, plus having to meet new kids and start a new school, you have a major emotional situation, for kids and their parent(s). relocation: Outdoor Living in Carlsbad California – At Home (Part 1 of 2)
- 03/25/12 12:38 PM
Outdoor Living in Carlsbad California – At Home (Part 1 of 2) Buyers looking for a home in the Carlsbad CA area often have a common request…to have outdoor space for enjoying the Southern California lifestyle. That outdoor space request may mean a simple deck or patio, for those living in a condo. But it might mean a full-blown outdoor kitchen and elaborate entertainment area. Amenities might include a pool (with slide or waterfall), fountain, spa or spool, plenty of hardscape, perhaps on varying levels, firepit(s) or wood burning fireplace, bar area, plentiful seating areas, built-in heat

relocation: I’m Off to Preview Homes for Relocating Buyers, and I’ve Got My Preview Kit with Me
- 02/11/12 09:47 AM
I’m Off to Preview Homes for Relocating Buyers, and I’ve Got My Preview Kit with Me I do a fair amount of previewing of homes, especially for relocating buyers who do not know the area and are not nearby to explore. I expect you do the same, even for clients in your area. So often what sounds great to the buyers in the MLS turns out not to be quite what they want, because of location, views, interior configuration, or other issues. I don’t want to waste their time when they are in town for a house-hunting

relocation: Why I Like Living in Carlsbad CA
- 01/09/12 09:41 AM
Why I Like Living in Carlsbad CA It’s easy for me to help buyers who are moving to Carlsbad, because I know the community well. But I also really like living in Carlsbad so it’s easy to be enthusiastic about all the great reasons to live here. So that, in many ways, is at the basis of how I choose what to write about - to share what I love, the things I enjoy doing, and what I think others will find interesting. If you were considering moving to Carlsbad, woudn't you want to know why people enjoy

How to Establish a Sense of Community in Your New Home – Some Relocation Advice Many buyers relocate to new homes in communities unfamiliar to them. relocation: Our Southern California Anniversary - A Personal Moment
- 03/23/11 04:38 PM
Our Southern California Anniversary Today is a momentous anniversary. Granted it's not significant like a wedding anniversary. And one might argue some milestones on AR are more sigifnicant. Regardless, March 23 is significant - we closed escrow on our home in Carlsbad on this date 6 years ago in our move from Boston to the West Coast. We didn't move in for almost a month due to selling our place in Cambridge, referring on my real estate business, getting some work done in our new home while vacant, and so on. Having been through a significant relocation (1 of 4) and

relocation: Are You REALLY Ready to Move into Your New Home?
- 03/12/11 09:39 AM
Are You REALLY Ready to Move into Your New Home? Of course you are. You searched, you found, you made an acceptable offer, you got your loan, and you are set to go. You set up your new utilities to start the day of closing, you arranged for the movers, and now you are really ready. A word of caution... It is not unheard of for closing to get delayed these days, for a host of reasons. It may only be a day, but problems with lenders, escrow, or the seller (especially if a bank) can slow things down even with

relocation: Homes in San Diego for Under $100,000? WOW | San Diego Real Estate
- 07/27/10 05:45 PM
I wrote an article some time ago that you could buy a detached home or condo in the North San Diego County area for under $100,000. That's still true, although the inventory in this price range has shrunk, and there are limitations on what and where you can buy. The follow summary DOES NOT include mobile homes or manufactured properties which are land lease. This summary also does not include housing for seniors (55+ communities). Many communities in North San Diego County do not have inventory in this price range. If you are interested in searching for homes for sale for

relocation: Who Ya Gonna Call? A Look at Making a Referral
- 07/25/10 06:05 AM
One of the wonderful things about the ActiveRain network is making friends around the country which becomes an amazing referral network, if you choose to take advantage of it. I personally have two major referral networks which crossover - fellow CRS members (Certified Residential Specialists) I have gotten to know or seek out, and AR folks. Between the two I have great connections around the country in all the major cities and regions, and many smaller ones. My ideal? A CRS who is on ActiveRain too. When you have an outbound referral, how do you decide who to call?
