The community of Terramar is a pretty special neighborhood in Carlsbad, where Cannon Road meets the Coast Highway/Route 101 and south of the Encinas Power Plant.
If you want to live at the beach in Carlsbad, and especially to have an ocean-front home, this may be the place for you, provided you have the budget.

Selfie Spot at Ventura Harbor
For some reason today I found myself thnking about a wonderful weekend we spend at a resort at Ventura Harbor with our daughter, her husband and our 2 year-old granddaughter last August. We had a great time exploring the area around the harbor - to the delight of the little one - as well as other areas of this seaside community.

The Carlsbad Farmers Market, also known as the State Street Farmers Market, is a regular event in Carlsbad, happening every week on WEDNESDAY in downtown Carlsbad Village along State Street.
The market is set up in the street between Carlsbad Village Drive and Grand Avenue, with rows of vendors on each site of the street.
And of course all the retailers and eateries on the street are open too, so it becomes quite a shopping expedition. The Italian Market sometimes has freebies to try!

I was out running some errands, including upgrading my Supra Key needed for a new listing in Temecula (a different county) in a couple of weeks, and stopped by the Meditation Gardens at the Self-Realization Fellowship in Encinitas in my way home. The Gardens are beautiful, and being perched on the bluff above the ocean also offer spectacular views of the ocean far below.

The Cardiff Kook has gained some notoriety in the area since the surfing statue was first installed in Cardiff 10 years ago. The notoriety comes from the fact that it is often decorated to fit with the current holiday or in other ways – a treat for many, but something that often irritates others, including those who don’t like the statue to begin with! I was out running errands, and being such a beautiful day, and having a few moments of spare time, I decided to enjoy a walk on the beach at Terramar and then a short drive down the Coast Road/Carlsbad Boulevard.
I was going to make a u-turn to head back to the Village when I spied this Holiday Tree by the Beach and couldn't resist stopping. So cool that someone, perhaps multiple people, took a few moments to decorate this gnarly tree on the bluff overlooking the beach and the Coast Road.

I previously wrote about the annual Holiday Tree Lighting which took place in Carlsbad Village on December 3. We were visiting family in LA and sadly did not make it back in time to see the lighting, an annual occurence for 33 years now.
Here's this year's tree in all its splendor. It was a gorgeous day today when I was out running errands and a perfect time to grab a photo. I hope to get by soon some evening to get the full effect!

Carlsbad has held a number of Coffee with a Cop meetings in various locations with much success. The next Coffee with a Cop is scheduled for Wednesday December 30 at the Starbucks located at 2708 Loker Avenue near Bressi Ranch, off Palomar Airport Road.

I was in Carlsbad Village tonight to buy some fresh swordfish for the grill for my dinner, and a couple of pints of gelato from my favorite gelato store, Gaia Gelato. The sky was simply stunning as sunset approached and I took a few minutes to go over to the beach to enjoy a stunning display.
