The well-known, and popular, Flower Fields in Carlsbad CA will be open to the public in a little over a week on Friday March 1.
Bear in mind the Carlsbad Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch take a while to reach their peak, so don’t expect the fields to look like the photo near the bottom (or in the video!) on day 1, but it’s fun to anticipate the full beauty to come.

Enjoying the Carlsbad Flower Fields on a Summer’s Day in Carlsbad California 2015
The famed Flower Fields in Carlsbad CA opened March 1, and I took a few moments on my way home from a Costco run to stop and enjoy the views from Armada Drive on the hills overlooking the fields, the Carlsbad Windmill, and the ocean.

The famed Flower Fields in Carlsbad CA will be opening on March 1, although it’s a bit early to see how beautiful the fields will be this year.
The Flower fields are a very popular Carlsbad tourist attraction and have been for 60+ years, with 50 acres of extraordinary color that seem to get better and better. It’s fascinating to watch the transformation of the brown dirt hillside to green to the vibrant colors of the Ranunculas, and then back again each year.
