Sunday March 4th in San Diego
I can’t wait to attend the 10th Annual Brasil Jazz Festa taking place at Dizzy’s in San Diego, tomorrow, March 4, beginning at 6 pm.
We went to the first 4 or 5 of these festivals when they were held in Encinitas, but have only been to one of them downtown and it’s been a few years.
The music was always wonderful, and with a relatively small audience in an intimate venue, it’s a special treat, in particular if you are a Brazlian music.

Balboa Park San Diego
Balboa Park, a 1200-acre urban park in San Diego, is a real treasure, and we have enjoyed multiple visits to the gardens, museums (including the world famous San Diego Zoo), and the House of Pacific Relations Inernational Cottages.
These quaint cottages, 34 of them representing different countries, are great fun to visit. We were at the international food festival back in 2012 and checked a number of them out. Alas, the one for Sweden - my maternal side of my family - was closed that day.

This place on the cliffs above famous Black's Beach in the Torrey Pines area of La Jolla (by UCSD and exclusive La Jolla Farms) is well worth a visit. It's great fun to watch the hang gliders, and perhaps take a tandem instructional lesson (unless you are already qualified to go hang gliding). The views are spectacular especially on a beautiful clear and sunny day. There's even a snack bar to enjoy while you watch.

It’s a few weeks off, but it’s not too soon to start planning for opening day at the Del Mar Races for the 2016 season.
Thoroughbred racing at the famous Del Mar Race Track opens Friday July 15 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in Del Mar California, and runs through September 5, with the exception of Mondays (other than Labor Day) and Tuesdays. We visited the Keys Creek Lavender Farm in Valley Center back in 2010 when they had one of their rare public open houses. The setting is spectacular, surrounded by mountains, open space and other farms, and the lavender was in full bloom.
