The 46th Annual Prince Lot Hula Festival, presented by Moanalua Gardens Foundation, will return to a public venue on Saturday, July 15 from 9 am to 4 pm at the Frank F. Fasi Civic Grounds in downtown Honolulu. A free event, the entire community is invited to enjoy a day of spectacular hula and activities. Makahiki Festival in the Upper Meadow at Waimea Valley, to celebrate the season of the Hawaiian New Year. $5 admission for Kama'aina. The only Makahiki, (Hawaiian New Year) festival on the North Shore is in Waimea Valley’s Upper Meadow on Saturday, November 5th. The day’s agenda includes the Te Moana Nui traditional Polynesian sports competition, run by Tahiti Mana, live music, Makahiki games, and local vendors, all hosted by radio and TV personality Mele Apana.

May 1st or Lei Day, although not an official holiday, is widely celebrated throughout the Hawaiian archipelago with a variety of activities and entertainments. The past 2 years put a damper on things but this year the celebrations are back!
In Honolulu, the annual festival is free to the public and centers in Kapiolani Park with other activities dotted throughout the city. There are performances by the Royal Hawaiian Band, hula, an inauguration ceremony for the Lei Day Queen and Court, lei contest and exhibits, storytelling, Hawaiian games, food and craft vendors.

Moanalua Gardens Foundation presents the virtual 44th Annual Prince Lot Hula Festival on Thursday, October 28 from 7 to 9 p.m. on KHON2. Producing the event is David Kalama of Kalama Productions, veteran producer and senior media producer of the Merrie Monarch Festival for 27 years.
