Virtual 44th Annual Prince Lot Hula Festival E Huli Alo I Ka Ulu Lā. Ua Ao Ē. With the rising of the sun, a new day dawns.
Moanalua Gardens Foundation presents the virtual 44th Annual Prince Lot Hula Festival on Thursday, October 28 from 7 to 9 p.m. on KHON2. Producing the event is David Kalama of Kalama Productions, veteran producer and senior media producer of the Merrie Monarch Festival for 27 years. The two-hour program, presented in part by Kamehameha Schools and Central Pacific Bank, will also be live streamed on https://www.khon2.com/prince-lot-hula-festival/ and KHON’s YouTube channel www.youtube.com/KHONNewsHawaii.

Queen Liliuokalani Keiki Hula Competition The Kalihi-Palama Culture & Arts Society, Inc. is presenting the 43nd Annual Queen Liliuokalani Keiki Hula Competition on July 19-21, 2018 at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center Arena.
This competition was established in 1976 to provide a venue for children ages 5-12 to showcase their achievements in ancient and modern hula. Four hundred youngsters will represent over twenty five halau from Oahu, Maui, Kauai, (3 comments)

In Honolulu, back in 1940, the very first Nā Hula Festival took place at Kapi'olani Park in Waikiki celebrating the artistry and grace of Hawai‘i’s premiere dance form – Hula. Today the festival is the longest running annual non-competitive hula event in Hawai‘i nei.

Probably the greatest legacy of King Kalakaua’s reign was the revival of the Hula and other Hawaiian art forms and traditions. The ancient and iconic Hawaiian Hula is far more than just dancing but the physical invocation of our collective mo’olelo or history expressed through movement, rhythm, song, and chant.
