The Hawaiian Humane Society advocates for a more pet-friendly community in Hawaii Nei supporting of the importance of the human-animal bond in the lives of local families. Many Hawaii businesses have adopted pet-friendly policies in recognition of the role of pets as family members. Restaurant owners, however, are prevented from adopting pet-friendly policies by health code interpretations that prohibit animals other than service dogs.
The Hawaii Association of Animal Welfare Agencies, which includes the Hawaiian Humane Society, Hawaii Island Humane Society, Kauai Humane Society and Maui Humane Society, plans to request the introduction of a bill at the state Legislature that would give restaurant owners (2 comments)
