The Hawaiian Humane Society’s Pet Food Bank program provides temporary assistance to pet owners struggling to feed their animals and runs solely via generous donations from the community, pet stores and the Hawaii Food Bank.
 
 
Drop Off Location: Hawaiian Humane Admissions Center
Hours: Tuesdays and Fridays – 10 am to 1 pm

Pacific Islander, designed originally as a hotel but converted to condominiums is located on the Diamond Head side of Waikiki a short distance to the Ala Wai Golf Course, Kapiolani Park, Honolulu Zoo, The Waikiki Shell and Aquarium. The Pet Friendly building is near many restaurants, retail shops, and entertainment venues and is close to a number of beaches and surf breaks. The building has no views to speak of, however, it’s location is in high demand as the relative quietude and proximity to the water and amenities make it worth a look.

If you are in Honolulu or near a heavily populated area on O‘ahu chances are that there is Pet Friendly beach nearby to enjoy with your pooch but it also means that there are more beaches and beach parks around that are NOT pet friendly, as well.

The Hawaiian Humane Society’s foster care program helps to save thousands of orphaned animals, as well as owned animals in which families are in emergency situations or victims of domestic violence. This program can also help students fulfill service learning hours with their families in their own home.
 
Volunteers must have transportation for health care appointments and have time to spend with the animals. Short-term and long-term fostering opportunities are available, including fostering animals for space reasons when need demands.
