jeanna martinez: Nothin' like a little sunshine to brighten up your day (or your listing)! - 03/03/11 10:30 AM
Nothin' like a little sunshine to brighten up your day (or your listing)!
About a week ago I got a new listing and the owners were anxious to get their home up and on the market.  We signed the listing agreement, I took my pictures, put my sign up and got it done.
There was only one small problem, it was a cloudy, gloomy, dark and dreary day.  I really don't like to take listing photos on a day such as that.  Well, I went ahead and took the photos and got the listing on the market as my clients wished,  … (3 comments)

jeanna martinez: Great websites that can make your life better! - 03/03/10 09:05 AM
Great websites that can make your life better!!
Brad Andersohn was kind enough to share a list of amazing websites at Raincamp and I thought I would share some them here with you along with my own thoughts on the usefulness of my favorites!  So here goes...
www.Goldmail.com - this is a really cool FREE site that lets you record your voice over slides (like a power point presentation) then share the file via email or post it online. www.99designs.com - if you need a design or logo, this is a must see website!  You will post a description of what you are looking for … (4 comments)

jeanna martinez: Creating a Fan Page on Facebook - 02/22/10 07:12 AM
Creating a Fan Page on Facebook
One of the many many things I learned at Raincamp in Dallas last week was how to use the fan page on Facebook to promote my business.  I am very active on Facebook but I had always thought the idea of a fan page was for artists, retail and food and beverages.  After listening to Ben Kinney talk about the different ways the fan page can be used AND that the page doesn't necessarily have to be all about real estate, I decided to give it a go.
Creating a fan page is very easy, here … (8 comments)

Well folks, it's that time of year again, time to get your boots dusted off, your hat shaped and your buckle shined!  Yep that's right its Rodeo time in the Alamo City!   For those of you who are not from 'round here, this event is not just for cowboys and cowgirls.  There is such a wide variety of activities and entertainment that even the slickest city slicker and the most proper uptown girl will find plenty to enjoy during this two week event.  Below is a brief description of some of the things … (9 comments)

jeanna martinez: I don't need a Realtor®, I can search the internet for a house on my own!! - 12/15/09 03:03 AM
I don't need a Realtor®, I can search the internet for a house on my own!!
We all know that most people these days start their search for a new home on-line.  There are so many websites out there dedicated to helping home buyers search for a home that fits their needs.  So you might ask yourself, if I can go online and find a house, call the contact person and see the house with the listing agent, why would I bother contacting a Realtor® to represent me?  Isn't that really all the buyer's agent does?  Just help the buyer find … (10 comments)

I want to build a custom home....so how do I start?
As with any real estate transaction, the place to start is always financing.  Before you start looking at land, picking out floor plans or any of that fun stuff you must make sure you understand the financing that will be involved.  I am by no means a mortgage expert but here is a little information to get you started.  Make sure you contact a qualified mortgage lender who will be able to explain in detail what is required so he/she can get you going!

jeanna martinez: Winter Wonderland in West Texas?? - 12/07/09 04:40 AM
Winter Wonderland in West Texas??
Texas is an enormous state with lots and lots of wide open spaces!  Out in the far West corner of Texas sits a beautiful park called Big Bend National Park.  I grew up in West Texas (Fort Stockton to be exact) and my family still lives there.  This past weekend my mom and dad drove over to Big Bend National Park and here are some of the pictures they took (I only wish had taken more)!
When most folks think of the West Texas wilderness, these are not the images that come to mind but it … (6 comments)

jeanna martinez: How can I get the most face from Facebook? - 10/21/09 08:09 AM
How can I get the most face from Facebook?
Facebookhas quickly become one of the most widely used social networking sites and many professionals are taking advantage of the opportunity to market their products and services.  There are definitely some big mistakes some people make when doing this.  There are probably several ways to go about using the network successfully but in my opinion the following are some important do's and don'ts for professionals utilizing Facebook.
1.  Keep all photos and comments pg-13, un-offensive and un-obnoxious. Make sure you learn how to un-tag yourself just in case you have "friends" who think its … (6 comments)

jeanna martinez: Is it the journey or the destination that matters? - 09/01/09 02:10 PM
"Success is a journey, not a destination."  Ben Sweetland
I took this picture on a particularly tough day. I was struggling to figure out how to run my business and create success for myself, getting used to being responsible for my own income.  Having gone from a salaried position to full time real estate was not easy. I had some personal struggles going on in my life at the time and had to fight every day to maintain a positive attitude. To top it off...it was the middle of winter and I desperately missed the sunshine and warm weather.

jeanna martinez: Schertz Ranked 40 in Money Magazines Best Places to Live! - 07/14/09 10:04 AM
I always knew that San Antonio was a great place to live but now it seems to be spreading to our suburbs.  The small community of Schertz, Texas located just minutes outside San Antonio has been placed number 40 out of Money Magazines Top 100 list of best places to live.  The magazine focused on smaller communities this time around and I have to say that I can't disagree with them in their opinion of this great little place.  It is close to great shopping, near Randolph AFB, has great schools and is well located for an easy commute to San Antonio, New … (2 comments)

So, about two weeks ago, I made a huge decision regarding my career in real estate.  I decided to make the move from a small local company to the international, household name RE/MAX!  Here is the story of how I came to make the big decision...
When I first got my real estate license, I was a full time high school science teacher.  I really only got my license because I loved real estate and thought it would be a great way to keep busy during the summer.  I also thought it would be a lot … (16 comments)
