schertz realtors: The Thin Line between Creativity and Professionalism - 06/19/12 05:06 AM

The Thin Line between Creativity and Professionalism
I have come across several agent comments in our mls (in both the public section as well as the agent section) recently that got me thinking.  The comments I am referring to are the ones where the agent tries to be creative and cute.

For example, I have seen some public comments that describe the home using a rap, I have seen directions given by sarcastically referring the reader to map quest, and I have seen some comments in the comment section so full of acronyms I needed a decoder (and google) … (112 comments)

schertz realtors: Nothin' like a little sunshine to brighten up your day (or your listing)! - 03/03/11 10:30 AM
Nothin' like a little sunshine to brighten up your day (or your listing)!
About a week ago I got a new listing and the owners were anxious to get their home up and on the market.  We signed the listing agreement, I took my pictures, put my sign up and got it done.
There was only one small problem, it was a cloudy, gloomy, dark and dreary day.  I really don't like to take listing photos on a day such as that.  Well, I went ahead and took the photos and got the listing on the market as my clients wished,  … (3 comments)

Several months ago, I wrote a post about schedules, planning and getting organized.  While I absolutely think that a schedule is a good thing, sometimes in this business, following a strict schedule can be extremely difficult.   I mean really. tell me that if you get a call from a hot (pre-qualified) buyer who wants to view some houses asap you aren't going to jump and run...I know I will! Even if my "schedule" indicates I should be blogging at that hour.
Along with this hurdle, I also have the curse … (3 comments)

There is no doubt that the way of doing business and succeeding has changed dramatically over the past several years.  The development of on-line presence, SEO, social networking and such has impacted us all.  Not all things internet are necessarily used for good, when in the wrong hands, they can in fact be used for evil.  It is important for us to remember to use our computers responsibly as well as conduct ourselves in public (on-line or in-person) responsibly so we never miss an opportunity to make that ever so … (18 comments)

schertz realtors: I am looking for a house, is there a charge for that? - 09/19/10 04:19 PM
I am looking for a house, is there a charge for that?  I get this question all the time from potential clients and folks who register on my website.  It is a very valid question, especially for first time home buyers or folks who are looking to rent.

The short and quick answer is "absolutely not".  There is no charge for me to help you find a home, find a lender and get pre-qualified (if you haven't already), write the offer on the house, negotiate with the listing agent on your behalf, set up and attend the inspection, stay in contact … (2 comments)

10 FREE Things You Can Do (or not do) To Help Your House Sell
Everyone sees the HGTV and A&E shows about selling your house and staging it to sell.  Obviously doing some home repairs and minor renovations as well as staging your home work.  However, not every home owner has the cash to paint, replace fixtures, buy new flooring or pay for a stager.  That doesn't mean that there aren't some things you can do to improve your home and help it sell.
Here is a list of simple, easy and FREE things you can do to improve your chances of … (7 comments)

schertz realtors: Is it time to "hit the pavement" or is that just old school? - 08/26/10 04:56 AM
Is it time to "hit the pavement" or is that just old school?
As we neared the end of an office meeting yesterday, my colleagues and I started a discussion on prospecting, marketing and growing our businesses.  The usual suspects were part of the conversation (i.e. social media, blogging, sphere of influence, etc).  I am 100% convinced that those types of activities work.  Lucky for me, RE/MAX Access, happens to be (IMHO) one of the leaders in social media and blogging in the San Antonio area, so I am blessed to have some amazing mentors in that arena.
This post, however is not about the "new" way of marketing.  It … (7 comments)
