alameda: What Do You Think? - 12/10/08 01:27 PM

Leaf Blowers.. Some citizens of Alameda are in an uproar about gardeners and their leaf blowers!  some cities nearby are banning the use of leaf blowers. Carmel, Berkeley and Los Angeles are a few cities in California who have banned these noisy machines. The complaints are that they are not only noisy but are noxious, wasteful and irritating to lovers of peace and quiet. Of course gardening associations and blower manufacturers are opposed to the idea of controls. It is very difficult for laws to be put into affect as most people will not file a compaint. It is interesting as the … (1 comments)

Alameda is a great place to live. Our Tonningsen exhibit is in its final days. alamedan Peter Toningsen elevates the ordinary to an art form in his photography according to Julia Tracey. He specializes in black and white photography and has exhibited his work throughout the Bay Area as well as Europe.  all his photgraphs were made with a pinhole camera then scanned and printed digitally with archival pigment inks. The exhibit was on display at the Alameda Free Library.

alameda: More Info About the Isle City of Alameda - 03/27/08 09:52 AM

Central AlamedaEven though I was born and raised in Alameda it always amazes me on how it has grown so much. Here is a little information about Central Alameda. The only way to access the main island is to cross either of our 4 bridges or the tube. The island of Alameda was originally a peninsula connected to Oakland. Much of the peninsula was low-lying and marshy, but on the higher ground, the peninsula and adjacent part of what is now downtown Oakland were home to one of the largest coastal oak forests in the world and the area was therefore called … (3 comments)

alameda: The Island in Which I Sell & Born and Raised! - 03/26/08 04:08 PM
Bay Farm Island
Alameda is a small island with a beach that looks to San Francisco.  Bay Farm Island is where I grew up and in those days we took a school bus to school, AC transit did not run on the weekends, I took the ferry (the kind that carries vehicles) to San Francisco when I went to the doctor and Bay Farm Island had 3 streets with homes and the rest was the bay and farmland.  Right behind Bay Farm Island was a very small airport (Oakland Airport) and now it too has grown! There were no schools and only 1 … (2 comments)

alameda: How to Sell Your Property for the Best Price - 08/25/07 03:59 PM
Tip # 1: Make your house presentable You don't want to lose the interest of potential buyers because of an unkept or cluttered house. To ensure your home makes a good first impression, keep the landscaping maintained and clear your driveway and entrance of everything but the essentials. Remove extraneous decorations and knick knacks from each room. A house that is overfilled will appear smaller and dirty. Enlist a friend to help you maintain your objectivity during this process. Before you place your home on the market, do a thorough cleaning and be diligent about maintaining it until it sells. Unsavory … (0 comments)

alameda: Legislative Day in Sacramento, CA - 05/03/07 02:56 PM
In June the California Associaton of REALTORS is having their Legislative Day in Sacramento. We will meet in mass and have lunch with our legislative representatives. We will discuss our issues with them. Last year Arnold spoke to us and hopefully we will see him again. He is an excellent speaker. Along with Led Day there will be a mini trade show and for the second year will include a Commercial group of REALTORS. That is great as most Commercial Brokers do not usually include themselves with non Commercial agents. In October we will have our Tech Tuesday and large trade … (0 comments)
