active rain: My Nephew & his class could use some help - Christmas Choir Song Contest - 12/07/11 03:22 AM
Hey all.... I first started on Active Rain on October 3rd 2006... I haven't been around in the last 10 months or so like I use to. Been very busy on my new project, MyPhillyAlive .... And from day one, AR has been like a 2nd family to me and still think of them as that, plus all the friendships that I have made over the years.
We have had a few members over the last several months experience some family member woes. Not sure how to put it in words, but my thoughts and prayers go out to their … (7 comments)

active rain: Are you throwing your Klout around ??? - 12/15/10 03:56 AM

So what is Klout ??  The Klout Score is the measurement of your overall online influence. I am new to this system and not an expert, but I am starting to understand it gradually.
Your Klout score can range from 1 to 100 and the higher scores just represent your sphere of influence online. Klout uses up to 35 different variables from Facebook and Twitter which measure your True Reach, Amplification Probability, and Network Score.

I am sure by now that many of us understand the true importance of social networking. May it be Facebook, … (12 comments)

active rain: The Power of Active Rain - The referral netowrk - But can it backfire??? - 11/13/10 12:53 PM

Referrals are very important in any type of business. Active Rain can be a very promising place to get those referrals. But is it a gimmie when searching here in the 'Rain'?
I just read this post by Alex Morris -
How does one become your "trusted" Rainman? He brings up some good points, but I wanted to touch base on some key reminders.
Before I continue.... I think Active Rain is an excellent networking place to learn, to network with others, and a place to grow on so many levels. But remember, people are people no matter … (6 comments)

active rain: RainCamp is coming to Philadelphia - The City of Brotherly Love - November 30th, 2010 - 11/01/10 07:46 AM

Ever been to RainCamp?  Ever been to the city of Philadelphia?  Well, I have two very reliable sources that tell me that RainCamp will be coming to Philadelphia on November 30th, 2010. I attended RainCamp 2010 in NYC back in January. Not only is it a good time, and a great time to network, but I learned some good information and tips from the 1 day session.
Come meet Bob Stewart, Kerrie Greenhalgh, and possibly Jonathan Washburn. I have had the pleasure of meeting all 3 wonderful individuals. And I am sure there will be a … (26 comments)

active rain: 600,000 points comes with many Active Rain Success Stories & Friendships - 10/23/10 04:02 AM

Active Rain has been very good to me in so many ways. It's been a long journey with some ups and downs, but the end result has been better than I could have imagined.
I first joined Active Rain on October 1st 2006 all because Brian Brady had been pushing me for like a month to join. I am so glad that he pushed. Back then, I thought I joined when there were only like 5,000 members or so, but it says that I was member 8,218.
I didn't submit my first post until October 5th.  How many closings … (14 comments)

active rain: Blogging - Dead or Alive??? Short term or long term in the blogosphere/internet??? - 07/15/09 06:25 AM

Blogging, is it dead or dying?  Social Media Networking, is it a fad or will it just be dust in the wind by next year. Shopping online?  Searching online?  Where does it all begin and where can it all end.
Now, I am not an expert when it comes to such subjects, nor do I do this for a living, but I do have my own strong opinions in regards to these specific topics. Keep in mind, much of what you read about is opinion over time.
Recently there have been a lot of posts written about these … (16 comments)

active rain: Do you know who is watching you online??? - 12/13/08 11:34 AM

Remember back in the 60's and 70's, when so many Americans were up in arms about 'Big Brother' watching us. And for the fact that so many believe that this is still happening. But let's take this a step further. What about those online that either search for a specific topic. Or that person that decides to Google you?  As I wrote a few weeks ago, Google can be one of your better testimonials. But better yet, that person can find you online through such sites as Facebook, Twitter, or myspace.
It's been proven over a short time that … (21 comments)

active rain: Not taking THANKSGIVING for granted while surrounded by family & friends... - 11/27/08 02:55 PM
I love the Thanksgiving & Christmas holidays. Not only the present times, but those times in the past, bringing back so many memories. And feeling how fortunate that I am surrounded by a loving family & some great friends, even those here on Active Rain.

I can remember coming home for Thanksgiving when I was in the Military.... Another time while staying at college one year and cooking my first Thanksgiving dinner for my best friend's roommate who was from Spain and one of the waitresses that I worked with when I bartended at a restaurant.  Again, so many … (17 comments)

active rain: Are your blogs LOCAL or NATIONAL and does the consumer know this??? - 08/15/08 02:12 AM
How do you blog?  Where do you blog to?  Whom do you blog to?  I don't consider myself a blogging expert, just someone with common sense and always trying to look through the consumers eyes. How they would look at things that we write. How do they view our blogs and are they on the same page with us.
How about this.....   re-read your blog as an outsider. Do you critique what you write? I only bring all of these questions up because sometime last week, I made a comment to a fellow rainer. They didn't really like my comment, … (12 comments)

active rain: Do you have a blog plan? - 06/08/08 08:53 AM

Blogging..... what a great concept.  Thanks to Brian Brady, I might have never found Active Rain. I have been blogging since October 4th, 2006. I still don't know it all, but I am learning as I go. You just need to be patient. But you do need a blog plan. You do need to know and understand the basics. And if you don't know, don't hesitate to ask anyone some questions. As I tell my clients, not asking a question is a dumb question.
So, what are the basics. I wrote a blog at the beginning of the year, … (25 comments)

active rain: Taking Life for Granted -- Paying it Forward in helping an AR members friend... - 03/02/08 08:27 AM

I have always been one to give the shirt off my back when someone is in need. Times have been rough though for so many in the last year. those of us in the real estate industry and even for those outside of it.
In the last several months, Jason Crouch has been sharing a heart felt story with many of us about a good friend of his who is going through a very tough time.
We have seen some great things come from this community, Active Rain. It's great when we can get together … (12 comments)

active rain: How to Market yourself in 2008 - Networking - Networking Groups, SOI, & Ideas - Part 3 of 3 - 02/28/08 03:55 AM

Networking, networking, and networking......  What does it all mean?  In my opinion, you need to be open-minded about new ideas and attack them before everyone else jumps on the bandwagon.  You also need to be consistent in who you network with on a weekly or monthly basis. Lastly, you need to have a few different outlets in regards to networking and not putting all of your eggs in one basket per se. Basically a true business plan which I talked about in Part 1 of this series : Marketing & Branding
To properly network, you do need a … (61 comments)

active rain: How to Market yourself in 2008 - Blogging - Techniques & Ideas - Part 2 of 3 - 02/25/08 01:28 PM

Have you jumped onto the blogging bandwagon? Have you incorporated blogging into your business plan? It shouldn't matter if you are busy or slow, because blogging should be a part of your 2008 business plan. The NAR says that 80% of the people first shop online for information when it comes to real estate and mortgages.
Blogging can be very therapeutic in so many ways. It can also be a great way to brand yourself online in which I talked about in Part 1 : How to Market yourself in 2008 -- Marketing & … (44 comments)

active rain: How to Market yourself in 2008 -- Marketing & Branding -- Part 1 of 3 - 02/23/08 09:10 AM

We have heard many market reports that 2007 was bad and that 2008 might be worse. For some, 2008 has been a great start, but has slowed down. Do you have a game plan for 2008?  Do you have a business plan?  Or are you just putting your head down just praying that it gets better?
There are many ways to market yourself. The end result is that you are the one that controls your own destiny. Being strong, showing perseverance, open minded, one that thinks outside the box, and determined is a formula for success in my … (43 comments)
