blogs: Another Source of FREE Use as You Please Photos - 04/09/15 10:21 PM
It's getting easier and easier to find free photos to use for commercial purposes. I still use my own whenever possible, but free photo sources like www.bossfight.co come in handy now and then. Their site is easy to navigate the catergories across the top, then I hovered over this stairway photo, downloaded it, saved to my desktop in less than 2 minutes. CCO Creative Commons Zero, so no attribution is required. I think if I was giving away free photos, when people went to my page, I would also have an option there where some of my better photos were for … (2 comments)

blogs: Another Source of FREE Photos For Commercial and Blog Use - 04/07/15 08:06 AM
Well, I know, taking your own photos is always the best and safest. But occasionally you don't have the photo in your database that you want for the blog you are creating. So it's always good to have some other sources where you know you can grab a photo, and use it however you want.
I believe Pexels is one of those sources. I just grabbed this pic from Pexels. Took me about 2-3 minutes.

pexels.com
from their site: "All photos on Pexels are licensed under the Creative Commons Zero (CC0) license. This means you can copy, modify, distribute and perform the photos. The … (5 comments)

blogs: 86 Posts in a Row. How Many Posts are Too Many? - 07/20/14 08:09 AM
Wow, this is a first, and I thought that maybe there was a virus or Anita's blog had been hacked? If I counted right, I scrolled through and counted 86 posts in a row by Anita Clark? Maybe this is a new strategy? I don't think anyone gets points for anything over a certain amount? But not all post are intended for accumulating points, they are intended to market.
I wouldn't have time, and even if I did, I don't think I would ever post more than a 1-3 posts in a day. If I get one a day that is … (8 comments)

blogs: Embedding a Getty Images Photo on Your Website or Blog - 03/15/14 04:26 AM
There seems to be some confusion on Getty Images new embed policy, as well as what qualifies a blog to be considered commercial. I visited the Help link on Getty Images website looking for clarification.
Here is what I found. " QUESTION: " Is there a fee for embedding a Getty Images photo on a website, social media site or blog?"
ANSWER: " No. You can embed a Getty Images photo on a website, social media site or blog for free and without having to buy a license, as long as the photo is not used for commercial purposes ( meaning … (6 comments)

blogs: Communications Decency Act -Protecting Bloggers and IDX Feed Providers - 04/12/13 11:08 PM
You probably remember the recent story about the agent who had a lawsuit filed against him because someone accessed a feed from his web site that was a Fair Housing Violation? The statement " Adults Only, No Children Under 16 Allowed" is a violation of The Fair Housing Act.
The agent didn't write that ad, it was just seen on his web site by the person who decided it was an opportuntiy to file a lawsuit.
In the April/May issue of Commonwealth magazine, which is published by the Virginia Association of REALTORS, on page 6,  NAR general counsel Laurie Janik states"It … (2 comments)

blogs: Acronyms on Active Rain Blogs - Professional or Unprofessional? - 11/04/12 11:59 PM
activerain.com/blogsview/3503896/when-did-profanity-on-activerain-become-acceptable-#13288681
Inspired by Amy Jones and her feelings on the use of Acronyms like WTF, etc on AR.   Do people take them too seriously? Professional or Unprofessional? It's the texting and Twitter generation. Just adjust the meaning to suit yourself. Acronymns can have more than one meaning. For example, when we get older, these acronymns might apply: ATD = At The Doctors , BFF= Best Friend Fell , BTW = Bring The Wheelchair , BYOT = Bring Your Own Teeth , FWIW = Forgot Where I Was , GGPBL = Gotta Go Pacemaker Battery Low, GHA = Got Heartburn Again … (6 comments)

blogs: BEWARE of Recent Scam Postings on AR - 04/12/11 04:19 AM
Just an FYI. Seems like I've noticed 5-6 blog postings recently that reek of bs. I noticed some agents are replying to these blogs thinking the poster is sincere. My impression is, these postings are all fraudulent and just trying to capture your info for possiblky placing advertising on your blog site.
I'm sure many have noticed the increase in unauthgorizized advertisement son some blogs recently. Maybe these are related.
The blog postings which I feel are just BS all originate from NJ and start with area code 732. I woiuld think before replying to any of these. None of them … (3 comments)
