Building Height Restrictions on Anna Maria Island - How high can I build up on Anna Maria Island? This question has come up several times lately, so it was time for a post about it. Anna Maria Island is a 7 mile long barrier island on the Gulf of Mexico just north of Sarasota, Florida. Within our little island, there are 3 city governments. The cities of Anna Maria, Holmes Beach and Bradenton Beach all have different building height restrictions and codes. There are a lot of older homes on Anna Maria Island. Home buyers want to know if they can rebuild or renovate and add building height.
