This past summer I purchased a unique craftsman property in Temple City. Near 2 of my favorite cities, Pasadena and Arcadia, Temple City has always been on my radar. From the quiet tree-lined streets to the highly coveted school district, I knew it would be a great area to work in. Just short of being 90 years old, the property was in need of some serious TLC. From foundation bolting and asbestos siding removal to all of the usual cosmetic finishes, no corner was left untouched. The biggest hurdle we experienced with this project though was time. I purchased a 1924 tudor-style home in Altadena, CA from a homeowner who had inherited his childhood home. As I see too often, there were family "friends" living in the property, rent free, and to say they weren't taking care of the property is an understatement.

We purchased this Altadena property in the fall of 2012. It was on a very quaint street, which Altadena and Pasadena are full of. Neighborhoods in these areas are famous for their character, so we had our work cut out for us. The project went relatively smoothly, with the exception of the countless city inspections that took place. Getting a simple permit sign-off on a new heater turned into getting permits for numerous items, including fixes we didn't even do (the past homeowner did them years ago). This is a project we worked on a few years ago in Altadena, CA. We don't come across mid-century modern homes often, so this was a really fun one for us! My favorite features were the refinished concrete floors and the kitchen!

It was an absolute pleasure working with this seller. This was the home she grew up in and eventually inherited. Unfortunately, she inherited some bad tenants along with it. She wanted and needed out, with as little hassle as possible.
