content: Chat GPT - Are Content Marketers Out of a Job? - 02/16/23 08:06 AM

Chat GPT and other AI Writers...
Chat GPT is all the rage. If you don't know what it is, it's an AI writing software that literally writes in almost perfect English - like the way we write.
What is Chat AI GPT?ChatGPT is a large language model developed by OpenAI, which uses deep learning techniques to generate human-like text based on the input it receives. GPT stands for "Generative Pre-trained Transformer," which refers to the model's architecture and how it was pre-trained on a large corpus of text data before being fine-tuned for specific natural language processing (NLP) tasks.

content: Do Your Listings Show as Content? - 02/17/20 04:41 PM
This is huge! Ever wonder why you find other agents and brokerages above your site when all they have is listings and NO CONTENT? It can be infuriating when you feel you've put so much into a great community page only to have another site beat you out of the top 10 on Google with nothing!

There are a few reasons this could be the case but one of the biggest is showing listings as content.

Google doesn't know what it's looking at when scanning your site so you have to tell it. If it's a script or code that frames in the … (30 comments)

content: A Small SEO Organizing Tip for Backlinks - 01/13/20 12:14 PM
This is just a little blurb about organization when it comes to SEO. I manage a lot of different websites and because when I work with someone's website I treated as my own, I do a lot of natural optimization, sharing, and backlink tasks. One of those, of course, is creating backlinks and garnering backlinks for my clients from high-quality websites. But, whether you are managing 50 websites or just one or two, you can still stay organized with your backlink development.

Do we need to start here? What is a backlink and why are they important?

There are hundreds, probably thousands of … (3 comments)

content: Custom Search Links to Keep People On Your Site - 08/06/19 11:40 AM
Keep People On Your Site!
That's one of the biggest issues with websites... how to keep people on the site. It's not just one page either. We want people clicking around all the time! But if we don't give our readers anything to click on then they certainly won't go searching themselves. We have to make it very obvious and clear that we want to send them down a rabbit hole of great information and that can be hard to do on a real estate site unless they're looking at listings... and that's exactly what we want them to do. The reason … (15 comments)

content: Are You Remarkable? If Not, No One is Going to Care - 01/16/19 09:00 AM
"Worth of Attention - Striking" - Does that define you and your business? If not, no one is going to share, talk about, or refer you.

Our society runs on social currency these days. We want to brag on social media, one-up our friends and acquaintances and have the inside scoop on something before anyone else. It's just the way we're wired. An experiment discovered that if you ask two groups of people if they prefer a job that made them $100,000 vs. $50,000 they obviously would take the $100,000 job. But then subjects were told that in the higher paying job everyone … (31 comments)

content: Why Some Websites or Pages Rank Well With No Content - 01/02/19 01:34 PM
I'll be honest, this drives me nuts! When I research a community or area and find the first 10 spots on Google with NO CONTENT! What? Doesn't this break all the laws of SEO? Well, yes and no. There are about 200 factors when it comes to SEO rules and ranking factors so no content on a page is just one of those, albeit an important one.
But why do these pages rank?
And it could be any site too, Homes.com, Market Leader, Real Geeks, Wordpress, etc... That may not be the deciding factor at all. So what it is?
Well, it's a variety … (33 comments)

content: Is Your Website Prepared for Your Business? - 10/15/16 01:03 AM
As the Pacific Northwest prepares for what they say is the biggest storm in 10 years I got to thinking about online preparation as well. I'm sure most of our friends on the East Coast did the same thing about a week ago and prepared their homes and their families as best they could for hurricane Matthew. Preparation is essential for maintaining what you have and keeping you feeling satisfied should something happen.
Is your website prepared for your business?
I actually found a website yesterday that still has Lorem Ipsum on it and it had a copyright date from 2013! 3 years … (37 comments)

content: Expanding Your Online Presence for More Business - 08/23/16 07:30 AM
It's getting harder and harder to rise above the competition but it can be done. It takes time and commitment. It's consistency. It's being in front of your audience all the time, never letting more than a few days go by without them knowing who you are, what you do and where you do it.
Now, this is only for those that are really trying to make it online. My good friend has been a real estate agent for 25 years and just recently put up a website, but only for contact because she does no online marketing. All her business … (59 comments)

content: News Articles and Market Reports - Duplicates and SEO No No's - 09/02/14 06:14 AM
Do you post news articles on your blog from major news sources and site the source? Do you do it more than you write original content? How about market reports? Do you copy and paste the same template and then change just the community, town and prices?
Bad. Now, it's ok to once in a while repost some great content if you feel it helps your readers and as long as you link back to the source of the article but if you do that more than you write your own original content you are diluting your site.
The more content you swipe … (54 comments)

content: Regurgitating Old Content or Creating New Information? - 09/23/13 07:16 AM
Blogging takes a lot of time and effort but you don't want to offer information that no one wants to read. Nor do you want to regurgitate the same thing that everyone else has said. But remember, people may be looking to you for the information rather than going elsewhere or simply Googling it. What you have to do is offer and present information in a new and exciting way so that old readers and new readers alike will find it and gain knowledge from it.
So what if 8 people have already wrote a blog about an event in … (29 comments)

content: The Basics of Today's SEO - What You Should be Doing - 08/15/13 05:42 AM
SEO changes all the time and Google is constantly making updates and new strategies on how they rank sites. The last big shift was towards branding and Google has been promoting those websites that have significant branding which is why sites like Trulia and Zillow (which as a name have nothing to do with real estate) are dominating the top of the search engines. So how can we compete as individual real estate agents in our area?
Today’s basics of SEO come down to informative and unique content and then sharing that content. Simply writing or regurgitating a news article or … (56 comments)

content: Sometimes it's just like tuning a radio station - SEO Fine Tuning - 03/06/13 03:06 AM
How easy is SEO? Sometimes you just have to fine tune it…   We do a variety of different services and tasks for people depending on what they need. One project doesn’t always fit every customer. Sometimes it just takes a little fine tuning to get were you need to be. I think of it as a radio station; where the station is not coming in quite clear see you can hear everything, hence you can get all the information. Sometimes all you need is to turn the dial just a hair for the information to come in clearly. I relate … (12 comments)

content: How to Personalize Dynamic Information to Capture Leads & Keep Them - 11/28/12 11:02 PM
How to personalize your dynamic information to capture leads and keep them What is dynamic content? Dynamic content is marketing to your exact target audience. If you’re talking about buyers everything on the page should be geared towards buyers. The same with sellers, investors, builders, commercial real estate developers etc. It’s honing in the content for exactly who is reading it.
While Google loves dynamic content since it is creating a better user experience for our readers, we also don’t want to offer our readers something that they don’t understand or don’t get yet. If you direct buyers to a … (23 comments)

content: 3 Things Your Competition is Doing to Get Better Rankings Than You - 10/29/12 12:03 AM
There's nothing more frustrating than to think you are doing everything right on the SEO side only to have your competition still nailing you in the search engines. You have great content, great social media connections, awesome on-site SEO with internal links, keywords, and you even got the Google authorship down. So what's going on?
If you're pretty sure you haven't been hit by any of the Google algorithm changes (and most were not) including the most recent one, EMD - Exact Match Domain, where Google is penalizing fluff sites for having the exact keyword domain you want to be … (114 comments)

content: Just When You Think You Are Doing Good.... - 09/26/12 04:00 AM
... You get shot back into reality.
I write for a living... literally. (pun intended) and don't think I'm that bad. I'm not a Ph.D. though nor have I ever completed a doctorate, not that I have even tried. But I do know that the majority of readers and those online find that the 8th grade reading level is about what we can comprehend. I know that sounds low but as Einstein said, "If you can't explain it to a 6 year old, you don't understand it yourself"
I try to write in such a way that most individuals can understand … (16 comments)

content: Do You STILL Have Canned Content on Your Website? - 09/20/12 12:10 AM
When you started out as an agent you probably got one of those cookie-cutter template real estate websites from one of the big guys out there just to get by, right? And now it’s been a few years and you probably haven’t touched that site. You’ve been considering a WordPress site, but think that’s way too much work and you wouldn’t even know where to start.
You do have a pretty easy functioning website that you can direct traffic to for property searches but the content's canned and just like every other website that this provider puts out. How do you … (102 comments)

content: 10 Reasons Why People Love Lists AND Why You Should Be Writing Them! - 03/16/11 01:49 PM
Why Do People Love Lists? 10 Reasons Why People Love Lists
See what I did there?

But really, lists are everywhere!? Are you writing lists? (I'm going to throw some lists in here for fun too!)

I'm a list FREAK! I sometimes write things on my list that I already did just to cross them off. What is it about lists? I'm not an OCD person but the organization of a list just makes me feel better. Tim, on the other hand, is not. He has no idea how much is in his checking account and has a rough idea of what needs to get … (6 comments)

What is a Press Release? ActiveRain's New Contest Has Some Wondering...
I love contests with ActiveRain but this one had me growling under my breath when I heard it. (Extra Extra - AR Contest) I hate Press Releases.. they are the bane of my SEO existence. I love writing blogs, articles, content etc.. but press releases are like the green vegetable on the plate. You know you have to eat it to get the full effect but it goes down with difficulty.
A Press Release is defined as: A public relations announcement issued to the news media and other targeted publications … (21 comments)
