Hawaii is having growing pains knowing how to manage the coercive power of government. An organization known as the "Coalition for a Tobacco Free Hawaii" is working hard to get owners of apartments and condominiums to ban smoking inside privately owned living spaces. The coalition claims that second-hand smoke impacts residents throughout the building even though they don't smoke. Smokers are up in arms claiming the right to do as they wish behind the closed doors of their homes. Many are holding their breath to see if this initiative migrates into the Hawaii State Legislature. (30 comments)
