I just received another call from a tenant who was called by a young woman professing to represent the owner of the property.  She asked for access to the property.   I immediately contacted the owner and, as normal, the owner had not authorized any such access, or requested that anyone contact the tenant.   It's prudent to let our owner's know that they need to come to us for access to any homes we manage.  It's prudent that every tenant be notified that if we don't call them first to tell them they will be contacted by a designated representative, and that … (1 comments)

owner: Section 8 Protected Class STATUS? Property Managers Beware - 02/28/09 09:14 AM
Well, here it is--Back Again!   The Oahu Chapter of NARPM has informed us that two bills have now been introduced at the Hawaii State Legislature that will make "source of income" a protected class. In other words, anyone with "legal income" (welfare, Social Security, Section 8) will become a protected class.
First off, I applaud NARPM getting involved in this issue.   I think, however, we may have a problem opposing this. The signs of the times are not with the rights of property owners.

Yup, it's said that we Property Managers are rolling in money.   I know that I am having a hard time making it to the bank every day with all of the money I earn.  

According to AOl's Find a Job at http://jobs.aol.com/article/_a/high-paying-work-from-home-jobs/20080605143209990001 Property Managers are number seven in their analysis of the ten best High-Paying Work-From Home Jobs.   We are right between Graphic Designers and Free Lance Writers.   WOW, I am so happy I can hardly stand it.  I am now expecting a rush of people into the business!
