Old Building a Patchin Grist Mill This old building got my attention today. It is in need of renovation but a very interest photography subject. The area is the site of the former Patchin Grist Mill located on Silvernails Road in Pine Plains NY. When there is a mill you can also count on a water feature and that was the case here too. See info on waterfall.

Okay, the last few weeks have for many of us put our nerves on edge. Today for the first time I met with my financial adviser but did not make a change to my portfolio. I am just going to ride it out. I couldn't believe that today the market also went in a positive direction. You could say the gains made some giddy. It could be short lived but taking it one day at a time is the only thing that can be done. I know there are many stressed out people out there so here is my poor attempt at (17 comments)
On Thursday, I met a fellow Realtor to preview a couple of her listings and then we decided to stop in at the Mountain Cow Cafe in Pine Plains. the food as usual was good. I had a wonderful vegetarian sandwich. While we enjoyed our sandwiches we also saw a beautiful exhibition of pictures from the Italian countryside, I can't remember the name of the photographer however I loved his work. On Friday in the New York Times the Mountain Cow Cafe was mentioned as a neat place to stop. Back at the beginning of 2007 I had posted about this place. (7 comments)
ENJOY THE SHOW Enjoy country living in this secluded 3 bedroom ranch on 10 acres. This gem is located in the town of Gallatin in Columbia County;but in the Pine Plains school district; and the post office is in the town of Red Hook both in Dutchess County. This is just one of the interesting facts about the area. The property on the south side is bordered by the Roe Jan Kill which is well known for great trout fishing.

RED HOOK COMMONS - RED HOOK In early December I did a post on the construction of the Red Hook Commons as you will notice what a difference a couple months make. This facility will probably be ready for occupancy in the summer and the application process will get started in another 4-6 weeks. This complex when completed will consist of 96 units and is being done in 2 phases. These apartments will be very affordable, the monthly cost ranging from $285-$663. The location of Red Hook Commons is very good, it is possible to walk into the village and I am sure some sort of (3 comments)
Today it was announced that in Dutchess County, a County Bill was passed requiring landords to test their well for contaminants; also anyone thinking of selling their house would be required to have this test done. This test is expected to cost around $500 and according to a local testing lab I contacted, the test would involve several samples and would require 25-28 separate tests. This bill would have to be okayed by the County Executive before it would become law, at this stage he is considering having each municipality pass their own water testing law. The county has only (7 comments)
