Ever seen a Googlemobile? I have!
I use Google Streetview a lot, but I've always wondered why I never saw a Google camera roaming the streets. Just how stealthy could they be?
Today I found out that they are not really stealthy at all:

I noted the Arizona license plate. I wonder if he Streetviewed everything from Arizona all the way over here? Maybe he's done with Arizona? Maybe he's like those out-of-area appraisers?
At the house on the right that you can just barely see, the family was on their front porch having a Sunday afternoon … (12 comments)

google: Google really likes me! All because of ActiveRain! - 09/05/10 04:11 AM

Google really likes me!
All because of ActiveRain!
Around June of 2009, Bob Stewart issued a challenge to write hyper-local posts, and I accepted. Not only were getting the extra points nice, but the hyper-local posts were actually fun to write. Imagine that! Something related to real estate in this economy that was fun to do!
I chose to write about the 39 condominium communities in my farming area, and it took 12 months to get through them all, mainly because I just couldn't find a format to my posts that I was happy with. Finally, about a month ago, I … (58 comments)

google: Now YOU can visit the San Diego Zoo without leaving your home! - 01/24/10 01:53 PM
I'm still not quite sure how I feel about Google making the whole Earth visible online, including streets and homes. To me it just seems like an invasion of privacy and a way to make it easier for the criminal element to wreak havoc.
Nonetheless, the San Diego Zoo is thte first in the nation to be featured in Google's Street View. All you have to do is go to Google maps and enter "San Diego Zoo" in the search. Then just explore the Zoo online.
I've been playing around with the feature for about an hour while watching Australian Open men's tennis … (3 comments)

google: Let me Google that for you! - 01/23/10 04:45 AM
Several days ago I was reading a blog post that ended with something similar to this:
If you need a Realtor to help you buy or sell a home in the City of San Diego, well, let me Google one for you.
Notice that "let me Google one for you" is underlined. That means it's a link. Go click on it and see what happens. I'll wait....
Wasn't that cool?
You can do it, too! Very easily. Just go to lmgtfy.com:

Type whatever you want to search for in the box and then click on "Google Search":

After you … (29 comments)

google: Google Street View presents San Diego State University and Legoland - 09/20/09 01:40 PM
Personally I'm not a fan of Google Street View because I think it is an invasion of privacy. With that said, though, Google and San Diego State University recently announced that San Diego State is the first campus in the world to launch on Google Maps' Street View. Additionally, Legoland in Carlsbad is the first theme park to join the Street View club.
Street View provides 360-degree views of spaces that usually are only accessible to pedestrians. Apparently, a Google technician rode around the San Diego State campus on a full-sized tricycle outfitted with a camera and nine lenses. I will … (13 comments)

google: If you needed to hide from someone, could you do it in today’s world? - 09/05/08 07:23 AM
A few weeks ago I needed to find a real estate agent but I didn't know what company she was with and she wasn't listed in the MLS. Even though she had a somewhat common name, I decided to type her name into the Google search engine and see what came up. Well, there was lots of stuff that came up, and every link was preceded by http://www.activerain.com/...
In thinking about what I had done there, it occurred to me how times have changed. When I was young, my mom told me to “Go get the Yellow Pages.” Many years later, … (18 comments)
