charelston: Folly Beach Children's Christmas Party - 11/22/09 02:49 PM
Every year Folly Beach holds a Christmas Party for local children a few weeks before Christmas.
It seems that this event has been taking place for over 60 years, but I have heard very little about it in the past.
This year's Children's Christmas Party will be on December 11th, 2009 at the Folly River Park, with Santa arriving promptly at 6 pm.
Every single child will have an opportunity to sit with Santa and tell him all their Christmas wishes!   Each child will then receive a stocking filled with candy and fruit, and also a special present from Santa himself.

charelston: Lowcountry Toys for Tots will soon be accepting applications for needy families - 10/18/09 08:25 AM
The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community.
The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a shiny new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to needy youngsters that will motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders.
It's amazing ow just one toy can make the difference in a child's life!

charelston: Hey Buyers! It's time to get off the fence! The Charleston market is picking up! - 05/13/09 07:03 AM
That's right!  Sales are starting to pick up in the Lowcountry.  Great news for sellers!  And if you've been looking for that perfect home, well, now might just be the time to act.
For the second month in a row, more than 500 homes sold in the tri-county area.  We saw 518 closed residential transactions in the month of April.
For Charleston County alone the news was a bit brighter.  In April, the median sale prices rose again, to $239,500,while sales remained steady at 249.  Significant movement took place in and around Mount Pleasant, with 44 sales and a median sales price of $343,450.  The most … (12 comments)

charelston: We Love Johns Island, SC - 01/27/09 06:44 AM
We love Johns Island for many reasons, but here are just a few that we wanted to share. We both grew up just minutes apart from one another on the island and met by chance. Our love for the island brought us back home where we built a home and decided to raise our little family. Johns Island is a quaint little community (second largest barrier island on the east coast) that is rich in history and rich in culture.
The pride of the island is the Angel Oak Tree. The southern live oak is estimated to be more than 1500 years … (2 comments)

charelston: Do You "Churn" Your Listings? Not In The Low-country You Won't.... - 01/14/09 07:14 AM
First you may ask, what is churning? Churning is the process where agents take their listings off the market and and turn around to put it right back on. This is done to make the listing look new again.
When the new listing hits the market is appears to be a brand new listing and it completely changes the number of days it has been on the market. This practice has now been altered in the Low-country to prevent the misleading tactics and help establish more realistic statistics. Now, if an agent pulls their listing and re-list it immediately; an added … (7 comments)
