rincon valley: The Trail House, Rincon Valley's New Restaurant/Bike Shop - 03/09/17 11:14 AM
There's a new brewhouse, I mean, bike shop in Rincon Valley
The Trailhouse opened a few months ago in Rincon Valley. It's hard to say exactly what it is but I'd say it is a combination of restaurant, brewery, and bike shop.
The owners, Shane Bresnyan, and Glenn Fant both come from a bike sales background. Shane owns 2 bike shops elsewhere in Santa Rosa, and Glenn was a bike shop manager. Together, they wanted to open a business near one of Sonoma County's premier state parks for hiking, running, and mountain biking, Annadel State Park. They thought that having a place where … (4 comments)

rincon valley: Wine's Night Out - 03/06/17 08:35 PM
Wine's Night Out is a monthly event at the Flamingo Hotel in Rincon Valley.  It is on the 2nd Wednesday of the month, but the last evening is tonight!

These are totally fun events where 4 or 5 wineries show up, each with 4-6 varieties of wine to taste. Learn about the wine, talk to the winemaker and have a good relaxing time.   It is from 6 - 8 and costs $10 in advance, or $15 at the door.  Appetizer are available to purchase.  This is a super fun, easy midweek event.

Tonight's wines will showcase wines from Francis Ford Coppola, Gloria Ferrer, Meadowcroft, and Moondance … (6 comments)

rincon valley: Another rainy day with nothing to do but... - 03/06/17 08:27 AM
You would never believe California was in a drought for the past 5 years based on all the rain we have been getting this winter.  I've heard some people complaining that all this weather is keeping them inside, and that they are going stir crazy.

Here's a great winter day idea.  Go check out the waterfall at Sugarloaf State Park in Kenwood.  This little creek is generally just a trickle, and is dry in the summer.  It's a 15 minute drive from Santa Rosa, and a 1/4 mile hike on the "Waterfall Trail"

rincon valley: It's for a good cause - 03/03/17 11:56 AM
On Monday my son told me that he needed 6 hours of community service before Friday.  “How long have you known about this?”  “Oh, about 4 weeks now…”  Luckily, we were able to schedule two 3 hour volunteer sessions at the Redwood Food Bank before Friday.  To be honest, it was really fun.  We bagged apples with some other kids who were also doing community service.  We’ve agreed that we’ll do one 3 hours shift a month from now on.

If you’d like to volunteer a few hours, you can find a schedule of available hours at the Redwood Empire Food Bank … (2 comments)

rincon valley: Hey mister, can you help a dog out? - 03/03/17 10:14 AM
Thinking about getting a puppy or dog for yourself, or the family? Consider getting a Beagle from Northbay Beagle Rescue. I know the founder, and she accepts beagles from around the country. Lots come from the south (Mississippi, Alabama etc).

She gets them in batches of 2-8 weekly. I have 2 beagles of my own so I volunteer to foster them at my house if Pam runs out of room. They range in age from puppy to senior. Seems the majority are 3yrs – 7 yrs.

Take my word that beagles are the sweetest, kindest dogs. They love to be held and touched. … (9 comments)

Is it possible that the City of Santa Rosa is actually taking steps to remove one of Rincon Valley's biggest eye sores?

Mission Lake Condominiums is a quiet development located in the heart of Rincon Valley. Mission Lakes consists of approximately 100 units, built in 1989, tucked away under a canopy of trees near the intersection of Mission Blvd, and Sonoma Hwy (Hwy 12). The homes range in size between 700+ sq. ft. to over 1000 sq. ft. They are either one bedroom, or two bedrooms, with 2 baths. All the homes have a fireplace, and a covered unattached garage.

The complex is nicely landscaped, and in great condition. Tall mature trees provide shade in the summer time and add extra privacy along with splendid … (1 comments)
