jim drummond: North Conway NH Real Estate News - 04/04/08 08:00 AM
I know you are all anxiously awaiting spring and probably tired of hearing more "snow" stories from us up north here, but I had to pass this one along. On a recent snowmobile trip from Bethel (just 1 hour from North Conway) to Kingfield I enjoyed some beautiful scenery compliments of the Bigelow Range and Falstaff Lake.
But I was really impressed when introduced to Olympia SnowWoman - a masterful undertaking by the Bethel Chamber of Commerce. She stands 122' tall and weighs in at 13,000,000 pounds of snow!

jim drummond: Conway NH Real Estate News - Saco River at risk for flooding! - 03/10/08 10:57 AM
It's pretty hard to imagine a beautiful summer day floating down the Saco in a kayak or inner tube looking at this frozen mess taken from the bridge in Center Conway today.
According to an article in the Conway Daily Sun today, the Saco River is at a very high risk for flooding. In fact, they say that rain and an extended warm spell could create historic flooding here in Conway and North Conway. All the snow we have accumulated this winter will eventually melt and need to go somewhere and the Saco River is usually the place to go!

jim drummond: And the winner is... - 02/06/08 04:57 AM
A number of people have asked who won the Snow Sculpture competition held in Jackson Village a few weeks ago. Well, the first place winners were Conway, NH sculptors Stephen Pullan, Jonathan Pullan and Bryan Steward, Their winning entry called "Transition" was also the People's Choice Award Winner!
The next big fun event in Jackson is the Winter Wildquack Duck Race to be held Saturday, February 23 at Black Mountain with many other great events planned for the day. It's quite a sight to see the ducks come floating down the river but I can imagine the fun of seeing them sliding down the mountain.
